  • Auction bottling. This is one of the best wines I've ever tried from Lieser. All the ripeness, complexity, and acidity I could expect from a great 2001 Riesling with an array of ripe fruit, honey, faint botrytis, bright floral and herbal notes, and remarkably intense, vivid stony minerality beneath. It's sweeter than the Christoffel poured alongside with near Beerenauslese ripeness/intensity, but everything here is impeccably balanced thanks to the acidity, and the finish lingers for minutes. Very much wow stuff.

  • Kormapolis (Michael) (Indianapolis, IN): #11-02, 7% abv, auction bottling. An incredible bottle of riesling. So expressive, with tons of ripe fruit and green herbs here. Eiswein-level density with a razor-sharp vein of acidity. Very convincing notes of green apple on the back end as well. The botrytis is very, very light here -- this is a very crisp yet full-bodied auslese.
