  • One of three very different 2006 wines opened for DV’s Super Bowl party. Decanted prior to kickoff. Glistening purple black. Maturing dark red fruit on the nose with layers of spice, liquorice and cocoa. Broad and deep palate. Great rich fruit layers but the fine tannins and lively acid kept everything in check. No alcohol heat. Long finish. Probably the best of the three ‘06s on offer. The Mirage was definitely heading out the door and the Monte Bello was roused from its hibernating slumber. This was about to take WOTN until a late game opening of a 2015 Vanessa Meritage that wowed the crowd. Great party, great wines. Thanks D & T!

  • Opened for a nice steak dinner with my daughter and fiancé; this wine never disappoints. Don't recall specifics but the tannins were well integrated, still plenty of fruit on the palate, everyone enjoyed. Glad I have more.

  • Oh my, that was good. Really, really good. Spices and leather on the nose. Medium body. Just acidic enough. Complex, reasonable wood, dark fruit, and a long, long finish. A wine that makes you smile.

  • Fully mature with a ruby core and slight garnet edges. Nowhere as powerful and concentrated as I remember from almost seven years ago, but this has gained gracefulness, nuance, balance, and complexity. Drinking beautifully with dried red fruits, pipe tobacco, cocoa powder, worn shoe leather, and old forest. Finishes long and with class and elegance. Worked great with grilled fajitas and vegetables. Drink soon, certainly within the next 1-2 years

  • Nicely lifted nose of underbrush, blueberry, bitter chocolate. Black pepper, red currant, hints of saddle leather. Quite bright and modern, perhaps a bit extracted but of that era. Drink now but still had a couple of years.
