It was a little fizzy and there is that tell-tale tangy finish. If I had a stash of these, which I don't, I would probably drink up, although if there wasn't secondary fermentation, that opinion might be different.

  Dense purple color. Rich dark fruit that stops just in time from being too big.Not a hint of sugar here. Quite juicy, early picked, black cherry with black pepper. There is the slightest presence of frizzante on the tongue. Leather and good solid tannins that give it a satisfying bite while the acid makes the mouth water. A very entertaining and fun wine and therefore a great bargain.

This fits the bill perfectly. That was what I was looking for when I bought the wine and it delivered. While I've yet to have a bigger appellation 2003 from the Rhone that pleased, the lesser apps in the south are providing some nice and juicy young drinking.
