Opened up nicely. I tad of heat on the palate, but the flavors really came out after a couple hours. Definitely more old world in style but the touch of heat and the hint of sweetness of the fruit also pointed to California. Still a very nice wine overall and one that pairs well with food. Should continue to hold together for some time to come.

Really in great shape. Third of 4 bottles purchased from LeDue. Lovely Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot. From the original vines brought here by Paul Masson; last vintage for these old vines. RJ says this will go for 30 years, I see nothing to contradict his opinion.

Not even close to as good as the regular 1997 Eden pinot. Very disappointing, with fruit overwhelming any subtleties. Comparable. Ed Whitson with the Yankees.

Ripe black fruit aromas with good spice and earthy character. Blackberry and mushroom notes on palate. Good structure without lots of complexity. In its peak drinking window, which should hold for at least 5 more years.
