Did I love it? Yes. Was it Barolo? Yes, but I wanted more of what Piemonte can be. The nose was all crushed flowers, stone, a bit of aluminum and . . . yes . . . oak. The fruit was still there. I liked the balance and the rustic intensity. Long finish. Very clean. All in all a winner. I gave an extra point because of how good a shape this 1993 was in. Impressive. Perhaps a bit past its time, but who of us aren't.

Decanted an hour or so before drinking. Dark fruit (cherry, black cherry), strong spice- Chinese spice, slight anise, floral- rose, slight earth, good acidity. Lingering finish. Really enjoyable.

Barolo Bricco Rocche Vertical (Salone di Gusto, Torino, Italy): Medium(-) garnet, brown-garent rim, some legs forming @ 13.5@ abv. Medium developed aromas of barnyard, red ripe fruits, savory, leather, herbs and tar. Dry, medium acidity, medium-medium(+) integrated tannins, medium body and medium(+) alcohol. Medium(+) flavors of red cherries, spice, mineral, complex and light-footed at the same time. Great length with still fresh and even light/thin finish. Good but no perfect balance, remarkably elegant yet not powerful for a classic old-style barolo. A very good wine, drink now + 5 years.
