  • Decanted an hour+ before dinner. My second bottle of three. These Roty 1998s have been firm indeed. Beautiful deep cherry fruit breaks through the still firm tannins, but I suspect more decanting would be advised. This was wonderful with a porcini mushroom chicken and the earthy flavors. I can’t advise drinking my last bottle now, because I think the tannins still need to lighten. When will that happen? I have some of the Charmes Chambertin which seem more approachable now, but this one has been a wonderful and promising grizzly bear. I really liked this, but will hold off on the final bottle for some time to come. We’ll see.
