  • Piedmont night: Brought by a friend as a ringer but oxidised.

  • Definitely representative of the vintage with it's elevated acidity but there's enough fruit left here to make this an excellent aged Burgundy although some thought it past its best. There are lots of tertiary flavors with notes of tart cherries, mint and barnyard spice. Drink soon.

  • From magnum. Same bottle as Nutty08 and I’ll double stamp his note. Cloudy in the glass. Pretty well resolved but rustic and a touch simple. Red fruited with plenty of tertiary development and some iron notes. Cool to try but perhaps not the bottle I want to have left in the cellar.

  • From magnum. May have been shaken as it's was cloudy. Seemed a bit thin and edgy, with some dried fruit and orange peel on the nose. Palate was acidity, bright, and narrow--lacking depth. Wasn't impressive.

  • This was incredibly good. I opened and tasted a little at a time for an hour and then decided to decant as it was quite tight on the palette, even if the nose was beautiful. It reached its best after about 1.5hrs in the decanter. Really intense nose of red fruit, earth and a little spice. Palate was tart cherry, earth, sous bois and a little almond, bordering on marzipan that gave it the impression of slight sweetness mid palate that gave way to tartness in the finish. Somehow this was perfectly balanced. Beautiful acidity too and a really long intense finish leaving me longing for another sip.

Burgundy-Report

(Comte Armand Pommard Clos des Epeneaux) Medium-plus colour. A wild and impressive nose at the start; oak, a little blood, interesting width, but slowly the oak becomes a little more dominant and the joy fades. Much more subtle entry than the Lejeune Rugiens, a little more tannin but it’s also more linear and focused. Equally potent in the mid-palate and more obvious length - though some of that is, for sure, oak. More depth, but today also less interest than the Lejeune.
