2009 Pierre Matrot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Combettes." Labeled as 13.5% abv. Imported by Diageo. I opened this during the second half of the Green Bay vs. Seattle game and had another glass with Sunday's dinner of macaroni and cheese and broccoli. The wine is pale gold with transparency. On the attractive nose I find peach, beeswax, white flowers and a hint of lanolin. The minerality reminds me of limestone and the acidity seems to be in balance. It is fresh and crisp and would complement shellfish such as clams, crab cakes (if not too spicy) and lobster. This is at least medium in body and lingers on the finish. Very nice!

White Burgundy Dinner (Amali): This is toasty and advanced, with a nutty quality to go along with ripe, orchard fruit flavors and a good dollop of butter. This is a big, deep wine with lots of concentration and extract, a touch tannic, with some nice earthy mineral character, but it's already fading just a tad and the extract makes it a touch bitter. The concentration and intensity is impressive but it's a wine I more admire than actually enjoy -- to me it comes across rather baroque. A poor match with garlicky shrimp, which brings out the bitter, tannic quality. I preferred the Carillon villages. Given this bottle's showing and this producer's track record, this is a wine to drink up.

Knightsbridge Annual Holiday Burgundy Tasting and Sale (Northbrook, IL): Tasting, brief note. Lush peach and apricot on nose and palate, showing less minerality and acidity, resulting in a charming wine to best drink young.
