I opened my first bottle about 6 months ago and it was tight and hot. This bottle drank wonderfully, dark fruit, inegrated tanin, a hint of coffee on the finish. The 2003 cote du rhone are into their prime drinking phase.

Tasted at a retailer tasting. Black cherry in color, showing a bit more pale around the edges. Barnyard funk on the nose showing pepper and cherry on the palate. Short finish. OK for the price.

Good red wine for quaffing and a good value. I once had a case of the J. Vidal-Fleury Cotes du Rhone Village (I think the 2000 vintage), which I loved and was much more distinctive, with lots of cherries and black pepper on the palate. I'd look for that rather than go with this.

Anita: Good, fruity, some light pepper, dark earthy berries; a bit austere, sharp 1st night; second night, smoother, softer--rounded off the edges. Good burger wine.
