13.5%. 100% Colorino? I usually don't address the color of the wine in my tasting notes, but the extremely dark appearance of this wine (think Petite Sirah or Aussie Shiraz) caught my attention. Upon opening, the nose exhibits earthy notes and roasted Mediterranean herbs that evolves into dark fruits and cocoa, and the wine gains more steam with each hour that goes by. The fruits may not be as expressive on the nose, but it's a completely different story on the palate. Once the tannins soften up after a few hours, this wine explodes on the mid-palate with dark fruits (think plums, blackberries, and dates) mixed with chocolate and umami. The nice, lengthy finish leaves your palate wanting another sip. I had absolutely no idea what to expect from this wine so this turned out to be a very pleasant surprise. This wine can easily age for another decade, but it's drinking great now. If you're opening your bottle soon, give it a quick decant and enjoy. Note: Paired perfectly with pasta with Italian sausages.

I had my last bottle of this in 2019 and then lit out for the territories in 2020 (moved across the country) so all of my wine went into a 3.5 year hibernation until I was able to move it as well. Which is just an excuse about why I haven’t drunk more of this sooner. I am indebted to Neurowine for his apposite reviews in the meantime. This seems to be doing well. Not a vin de contemplation but good with rich bean and vegetable risotto tonight. Blackberry, iron, decayed leaf. Some acid and tannin but civilized enough. Very dark color but I can finally see through it!

Last of the 1/2 case. Nose of dark fruits, decaying flowers. Lots of iron. Continues to dry out. Drink up. Overall, this has been a really nice wine over the years. I don't think it is anything to meditate on, and there is probably a reason we don't see a ton of single-varietal colorino, but this trades on the geek factor and it is a well-made and interesting wine. And lovely to look at. Not sure I would re-buy but I might...

I'm digging the nose of this tonight. Cool blue fruit that reminds a bit of Bandol/mourvedre. This one is a bit rough around the edges and I am picking up more EtOH on the finish. Might be drying out some. Drink up I think.

Not as good as prior bottles. Still somewhat tannic and fruit is fading, leaving a bit of harshness.
