  • Very similar and consistent with the 2011 vintage, of which I tasted many bottles, this wine is light ruby in color and has an intense nose of dark cherry, black tea and spice. The mouth feel brought intense acidity, cherry pit and defined minerality that was way beyond what I was expecting from this appelation and price point. The finish was very well balanced, with the acidity, soft tannins and fruit all coming together seamlessly.

Even with a $2/btl increase this vintage, at $18US, this is still an absolutely outstanding qpr.

  • Reductive nose with plenty of concentrated if blocky fruit. Palate is high toned and yet to resolve its bolshy tannins, acid and tarry propulsion. Could be super but needs time for the guts to unwind. Try again in 2016. Exciting potential.

*** Two days open in the fridge have done no harm at all. Now showing glimpses of lovely minerality and more composed fruit. This has great potential and is a steal at £12.

  • Theatre of Wine Pinot Noir Tasting (Theatre of Wine, Tufnell Park): Black cherries but also a slightly yeasty (reductive?) note. Palate is quite dense with a good acid structure. Dry with mineral notes and nicely textured. Good value.
