Wednesday, May 8, 2024 - I've been opening up a few 2009 in the las few months and this was comparatively a disappointment.
Even after a 4 hour decant it was incredibly chewy and raw, but more concerning I didn't find any depth and luxury that suggests in another 10 years it will be a different experience, it simply had a rather tart blueberry taste with limited complexity compared to any other 2009 I have had so far.
I'll let the other 5 bottles sleep, maybe they surprise me.

5/9/2024 8:50:00 AM - Possibly the bottle, but I think it might be more that its been up against recent tough competition - I've opened first 2009 bottles of Leoville Poyferre, Haut Bailly and Pontet Canet in recent months, all of which were superb - rich, lush, smooth and totally drinkable and against those this fell short. I'll give another 5 years before I open the next.

5/9/2024 9:05:00 AM - You sound like you drink all the same wines, I do! Can't argue with the great showing for any pf those '09s as I've loved them all, but my bottle of this Le Gay was a 96 for me back in February with 3-6 hours of air. That's what makes me think you had an off bottle.
