Thursday, March 10, 2016 - In my opinion, the variety that Arizona does best, is Sangiovese. Maynard's work under the Caduceus label is no exception. This wine was fantastic and really encapsulated the Arizona terroir. Clear, medium, ruby coloured with red fruits such as raspberry and red cherry on the nose with plums, some meatiness, blood and violets on the palate. Medium plus to high acidity, with very fine, well integrated tannins. This is drinking beautifully right now. Was matched with pizza and would match any good pasta dish with red sauce.
