Beautiful wine. The first night it seemed rather elegant but maybe still a little closed...nice acidity with pear and florals, restrained. 91 points. However, we left half the bottle for the next night...all the richness and texture came into play. Open and opulent. I would suggest a heavy decanting and a few hours, or leave it for a few more years. I luckily have 1 more bottle, will leave it for another 5 years.

Best viognier I have ever had....aromatic (loads of peachesand honeysuckle), long, a touch of acidity, very little wood aromas and not too heavy. Best to be had with food. what a treat!

Awesome lemony, apricot bouquet. Tasted peaches, apricot, honey, lime. Refine and intense at the same time. Thoroughly enjoyed it and was a crowd pleaser. Ready to drink.

A carafer.

Nigel P in Bath (Clayton’s kitchen, Bath): Bottle 2. Far fresher. More vibrant and more obviously Viognier. With air it starts to calm and broaden to show closer to bottle 1, but still played in a higher key. ****

Nigel P in Bath (Clayton’s kitchen, Bath): Bottle 1. Fat, slightly sweet-scented with a sense of RS on the palate. Lovely. Almost lost its Viognier character. Rich but with a mineral core coming through. ****

It has deep golden color. Typical nose of peaches, abricots, bruised baked apples. Hint of oxidation, its a drink now for sure. Palate is with same fruits, beeswax, very oily. Its a big bold white wine. tastes better at higher temperatures. Maybe it was more fresh 2-3 years ago. Very good wine nonetheless.

Another glorious bottle. Golden yellow. Rich honeysuckle and ripe apricot fruit. There is a hint of baking spice on the unctuous long finish. Again, this is much better nearer to room temperature.

Honeysuckle, apricot, some butterscotch on the finish. Very complex, this was continually changing in the glass over time me and as it warmed. This lacks a bit of acidity to make it truly outstanding- drinking well now nonetheless.

Drank over 2.5 hours over dinner at Table@7. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, yellowish gold colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of honey, honeysuckle, white peaches, stony minerality, and a nice touch of petroleum oil emerged as the night wore on. Developed. On the palate, dry, good medium+ acidity, medium+ alcohol (14.5%), medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of honey, honeysuckle, peaches, lime and limestone, stony minerality, and petroleum oil towards the finish. Acidity does dip a little as the wine warms up in the glass. Outstanding quality Condrieu. Has a very refined aristocratic feel to it. Not big but stood up to the Indonesian cuisine. Ready to enjoy now. Could last another 2-3 years well.

La Pyramide Dinner (Vienne - Northern Rhone Valley): Intense dried apricot with great fruit intensity and sweet spice aromas. Same flavor profile but coming across with good acidity and more restraint. Layers of flavors, lots of power. Very good now, I'd expect this will hold strong to close to 2020.

A Great French Dinner (Indianapolis, IN): A fantastic white wine. Mixed floral, heather, stone fruits on the nose. Balanced acidity coming through. Great depth to the nose. In the mouth, nothing is lost. Equally balanced, and perhaps the first of several great wines where the nose and the palate are in synchronous harmony. There is weight without being remotely heavy. Supreme balance.

Young, but awesome. Lots of variety on the nose - citrus, florals and some tropical touches. Great length, balance and brightness on the palate. Still tight and young, but promising.

A small gathering at Mark's duck house - Grange, A shot in the dark, Rousseau, Yquem and more. (Marks duck house, Falls Church, Va): May be I should stop saying I am not a big fan of northern rhone whites. The initial nose of this wine is very different from la doriane which I tend to find a bit of heat. Incredible freshness, perfectly ripe yellow peach that ringers but no lychee fruits in the beginning. Excellent concentration, sweet ripe fruits but remains very fresh with bright acidity and minerality. With time, more lychee fruit emerges but remains very fresh. My first experience with this wine, a great wine that I need to seek.

light yellow colour, beautiful scented nose of stone fruit (peach, apricot). On the palate, it is delightful with med+ aromas, alcohol with a med+ acidity that carries the weight of this wine giving it a sense of freshness. Long finish. Very good!

Ahh, here we go. Just amazing stuff. Beyond the Viognier thing (which I love) its the salty, brine back end that really does it for me. That and the harmony on the palate. And the fact that its just darn good.

Now here is something very special indeed. These vines were apperently planted by the currant owner / winemaker's grandfather (christie?). This one is just simply more hedonistic than the Chaillees, yet still has that amazing since of harmony. As Christie's husband explained "we are used to associating minerality with acid. That is easy to see in Riesling. However, these two do not have to be tied together. Because of the Coteau du Vernon's decomposing granite soil the wine develops immense minerality. However, as this is Viognier, the minerality is cleared through without acidity." A very interesting propositon, but even better tasting. I believed him.

Grandios!
Hat mit der Zeit Säure und frische Frucht verloren. Dafür an Komplexität gewonnen. Toll zum Schafskäse.
Mittlerer Nachhall.
