Wine Spectator Grand Tour (Las Vegas, NV): This straw-colored sparkler sports a brisk tiny bead. Intense and complex on the nose, it flaunts aromas of blood oranges, honeycrisp apples, stone fruits, quince, brioche, marzipan and jasmine. Medium-bodied, vibrantly acidic and with a creamy-textured mousse, it delivers flavors mirroring the nose, showing good persistence throughout the layered mid-palate and lingering, energetic finish. Classic in quality, this tête de cuvée has plenty of stuffing to ensure many more years of enjoyment. Drink now-2038.

Stone fruit and almond brioche and perhaps subtle orange rind. Great palate of plush, fine bubbles. My notes don’t do this justice.
Tried this at Wine Spectator’s Grand Tour in New Orleans. First time to one of these. Very fun. Stole some of the notes from DQ. It was a fast and furious tasting.

Tasted in Paris at Le Grand Tasting. Side by side with Rare 2008, 2002 and 1988. It has very similar finger print of the house, at the same time a clear influence from the vintage (and age). While 2008 is starting to get round, the 2008 acidity is still clearly there. And although 2013 is still a bit young and not that expressive, the 2013 character is quite different from 2008. I usually prefer 2013 over 2008, so I have a great hope on this wine.

Very nice indeed Quite young and fresh still but approchable now which makes me think it will follow the 2002 and 1998 and gain weight / depth Subtle enough on nose but typical rare notes Maybe one to leave for 3-8 years min but quite lovely now

Very classy rendition. The Chardonnay shines here, with yeasty, cake batter but plenty of acidity to avoid feeling any way cloying. This was quite fresh, intense on the palate, and the better champagne against a Ployez-Jacquemart Granite.

The Roots Fund Charity Wine Dinner (Atelier - Chicago IL): Also very rich, this is clearly of the bready side of Champagne with very good depth. I enjoy this style in its youth, like tonight, with the fruit as pronounced as that breadiness, but it's not my preferred style.

I have a huge expectatin of this wine. But when i drunk this wine, firstly i disappointed. I didnt feel power of this wine. I could feel very weak body of wine and the scent of wine was also not impressive. So i think i should keep my cellar this wine more time. I wish i will feel real power and taste of this wine later.

Piper Heidsieck Rare Tasting (La Fete): Information from merchant, 70% C, 30% PN, 9g/l, first bottle was slight corked. From a fresh bottle, fresh, orange, not so expressive, good pure fruits, lime, linear, racy acid. Good energy on the palate

Winter BYO with a lutefisk pause!; 12/16/2023-12/17/2023 (D O Lien): This wine presents a light golden hue. The nose, initially discreet, unfolds with aeration, revealing notes of light spices, sweet pastry, and hints of yellow apple. On the palate, malt and subtle yeast notes emerge. The wine carries a mineral character with delicate saline undertones. Sweet lemon, elevated acidity, and a medium to full body contribute to a well-balanced profile. Based on recent experience with the 02 Vintage this wine should have been laid down for a few more years.

Really really nice, crisp champagne. Lovely notes of brioche, lemon curd, and preserved lemon--maybe even a hint of salinity. Sharp with a smooth, creamy finish

Bienvenue a Champagne; 4/20/2023-4/29/2023 (Les Crayeres, various restaurants, Les Avises and a many wonderful producers): To be truly accurate this wine is now it’s own house and no longer part of Piper Heidsieck but the name is such that it’s quite hard to figure out how to do that since Rare is so common of a name and so I’ve just continued the same designation it has for others. Wine will be released tomorrow to the press and then rolled out slowly through the world so this was a very early preview for us. 70% Chardonnay but mostly from the Montaigne de Reims and so not the classic champagne style which often comes from Cote de Blanc. I get lots of crystallized ginger, a bit of orange blossom, some orange peel. Good freshness and lots of acid and structure. VERY young but you might expect that as it was disgorged quite recently. Nice crisp style. A wine to keep an eye out for. Drinks through 1960
