Being totally crazy about Champagne, I have a biased opinion when it comes to other sparklings. It's well made but too acidic for me (blend of chardonnay and riesling) and the fact that it's an Extra-Brut doesn't help. As an alternative, we've finished it as a cocktail, associated with a blackberry liqueur (kind of Kir Royal!)

Dark red. The nose catches ripered fruits. Plum dominates in mouth. The structure of the wine is a bit thick (i mean, it's not fluid) certaily due to tannins

12/6/2022 2:58:00 PM - Lady Chatelaine: Pleased to make your acquaintance (virtually). I look forward to sharing notes. I do not have much depth in the Languedoc so I am keen to review your QPR findings. That is my lot in life (QPR hunting that is)

2/4/2018 10:40:00 AM - Lady Chatelaine,
The Rhone valley certainly is a warmer clime as I look at local weather and see it is -2 degrees Fahrenheit (-19 degrees Celsius). We normally spend the winters at a second home on the gulf coast of Texas where it is a lot warmer. Unfortunately a Hurricane severely damaged our condo so me are stuck spending the winter in Alaska while they rebuild the condo.
Although your cellar is smaller than mine I think the ideal size would be midway... perhaps 1800-2000 bottles.
As it happens, the Rhone region is one of my favorites; both North and South.
Enjoy your your warm weather and good wine!!

Tasty blend of aold vines of Syrah and Grenache.
If tasted blind, would be taken for a Cote-Rotie
