2000 Château Haut-Bergey

This delivered as always, but I should have given it an hour in the decanter as it started to come alive half way through the evening. Taste profile is as per previous notes. 92+

1998 Château Monbousquet

Fully mature, this really only needs a pop and pour, and probably needs to be drunk over the next 3 years to enjoy it at its best. It is a lovely aged St. Émilion, with an aromatic nose of ripe berry fruits, and a silky mouthfeel with great depth on the palate and finish. For myself, it has always been the best of the three year hiatus of the estate from 1998 to 2000.

2000 Château Léoville Poyferré
5/15/2024 - djhammond Likes this wine: 95 Points
Last tasted over 2 years, and it did not deliver the wow factor it was showing in its adolescent which marked it down as a potential high 90s rating. I think I may have over aerated the wine, or it still needs more time in the bottle. It is very approachable, but seems to have lost the phenomenal depth and length it displayed before. It is there, but extremely restrained. That said, everything is in perfect working order, but I have to concur wih Mark in preferring the 2003 at present. A post script, along with most of the 2000 left bankers, I think this needs at least another 2 to 3 years to bloom.
