2005 Château Branaire-Ducru

Brought to a birthday dinner celebration.
Decanted 45 minutes which served to open the wine up. Fruit was savory and still fresh, however the power of the wine declined over the next 90 minutes. Not a racey wine or thrilling bottle, rather a solid but unspectacular st Julian. Kind of like driving a Chevrolet— it gets you there, is steady and without incident— but you won’t reflect on it again.

Hmm, a pleasant nose and zesty mid palate. Quite smooth with a ripeness that tells me drink now. Not a long finish or deep core that would suggest cellaring longer. Perhaps at its zenith: the wine is quite even and lacks any harsh edges.
A good pairing with a lighter meal or appetizers. As we are having pizza tonight, it sure seems to be an excellent choice.
Drink now thru 2026.

Really a well made wine— if you drink it now, give it plenty of time in the decanter.
