Every bottle is its own taste experience. This one was aromas of Grand Funk from start to finish, hiding flavors of dark berries and oak with a leathery nose. It was a very nice wine for 15-30 minutes, about an hour after decanting. Disappointing in general; it's either past peak or this was a bad bottle.

This wine has entered a new phase of expression. Even better than two previous tastings, with a broad, aromatic nose and rich flavors. Unfortunately, it was consumed at a restaurant and I have no notes. Always a great value, 2005 was special. Try it now if you haven't tasted it recently.

I picked this up on a whim at TotalWine - winery direct, WS 92, about $35. I need to check the CT app before I buy wines. The ratings here reflect many palates and individual bottles. Expecting a 92, I was disappointed. 30 minutes open in the bottle then Venturi. Delicate nose of graphite and dark fruit. Garnet in color, medium body, slippery legs in the glass. Bold tannins dominate the palate at first, followed by dark cherries, plums and some cassis. Very short finish with little character. The tannins were more soft and integrated the second day, but flavors were still austere. I had a nice case of '89 Labegorce-Zede - too bad this wasn't similar. It might fare better with a very long decant.

11/9/2015 6:00:00 PM - Thanks for your comment on my tasting note for the '03 Cos. Happy BD! Hope you loved it as much as I did. I have 3 more half bottles and can't wait to drink it again.
