My only bottle, tasted semi-blind at Bill & Albert's "Terroir" Dinner Tasting at Cafe Mangal. Slightly more than one hour in a decanter. Served in a old world v. new world flight of pinot noirs, with the 1992 Claude Dugat Gevry-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux Saint-Jacques (95+ and the wine of the flight), the 1996 Williams Selyem Pinot Noir Hirsch Vineyard, and (also brought by me) the 2016 Beaux Freres Pinot Noir Beaux Freres Vineyard. This Morey St. Denis was well received by the group, but (assuming it was correctly identified) I was not as enthusiastic and mistook it for the Beaux Freres. Purple colored, very full bodied, and took time to open up and show much. Judgment reserved, but it is unlikely that I will taste this again.

My first of three bottles. Tasted semi-blind at Bill & Albert's "Terroir" Dinner Tasting at Cafe Mangal. Slightly more than one hour in a decanter. Served in an old world v. new world flight of pinot noirs, with the 1992 Claude Dugat Gevry-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux Saint-Jacques (95+ and the wine of the flight), the 1996 Williams Selyem Pinot Noir Hirsch Vineyard, and (also brought by me) the 2015 Domaine Bryczek Morey St. Denis "Clos Solon." The Beaux Freres held its own with these excellent wines. To my surprise (assuming the bottle was identified correctly) this was my second favorite of the flight, and I preferred this to the similarly aged Morey St Denis, although most in our tasting group did not. My very limited notes included: "Clear ruby, old world [obviously in error], excellent, 93."
My second of three bottles. PnP. About one hour of air in glass. Ruby. Funk on the nose. Medium bodied, old world, red fruit framed with tannin, oak. (89-91). Will revisit with more air. Note: Vina Alberdi was one of the first wines to get me interested in finer wines - some 34-35 years ago, when this was $6 per bottle (and the Ardanza about $17).

2/3/2022 5:37:00 AM - To be honest, I did not find a difference yet. However, this may be different in 15 or 20 years - but who wants to wait, the wine is perfect now.
