Lightweight and subtle style, but the flavors are focused and ethereal. Colored pencil, red licorice, wild strawberry, white pepper. One of those wines that you actually have to put enough of it in the glass to get the full sensory experience. An intellectual wine. 50 cases.

Fantastic nose of truffle mushroom, capers, kirsch, dark chocolate ganache, and steel shavings. On the palate, it's too young and clamped down by acidity. Needs 3-5 years.

This is a perplexing wine. It’s not flawed, just dull. A muted nose that should be giving more than it is. Purple pastille candy, campfire, dark chocolate covered cherries. Palate has blueberry pie filling, some texture of the not-yet-integrated oak, but low acidity and a plain finish.

9/22/2013 9:30:00 AM - Where did you find the bottle of Gelsaia Cecchetto? In Lexington? Thanks in advance for enlightening me. Also, for what it's worth, if you think Burgundy sucks, you haven't had the right Burgundy yet... Cheers!
4/28/2013 1:31:00 PM - Thanks for the comment... Lol. It actually does make it easier for me when tasting 15+ wines at a wine club while writing. It was an interesting theme that night ... South America. Not a favorite.
11/29/2012 6:02:00 PM - The Casa Lapostolle was not really decanted, but left to breathe in the bottle. The spillage was all my fault. I bumped into the bottle and it fell over. Thank God it didn't break. We had enough wine left for the evening. It was just the two of us.
