  • D2. Pop and pour which was probably the issue. Tasted pretty average. Puma baseball party.

  • Deep ruby to garnet. Nose of black fruits and cassis. Full bodied, heavy tannins, medium acidity. Very balanced and not overripe. Silky smooth on the front—an exceptional texture. Notes of raspberry, dark chocolate, pepper, and sour cherry. Nice concentration and a long finish. Not exceptionally structured or complex at the moment, but everything comes together nicely. What really sets this wine apart is its texture. It is so rich, almost decadently lush. It also exerts a perfect amount of grip. Decanted for four hours. It’s not too young, but its best years are still ahead of it, and it could probably do with 5-10 more years of age.

  • No sediment, dark purple-red. Nose reticent at first but the palate is ready to go. Typical Pauillac profile along with mint, iodine and saline right out of the bottle. Good length and interesting finish. This wine is quite ready to go without decanting - it's intense, rich, with a sense of freshness and youth best paired with something flavorful. Tannins did not assert themselves, so my guess is it's at peak now and ideal to drink over the next few years.

  • WOW. This is an amazing wine. Violets and cigar box on the nose, and black fruit, leather, and chocolate on the palate. Silky structured tannins say this wine is in a wonderful place to drink now, but will continue to evolve over the next several years. The best Pontet Canet I have tasted.

  • black fruit preserves and savory nuances. Tobacco and damp earth. Blackberries, roasted figs. Very dark and brooding. Did not get the classic pencil lead. Great now but will great for another 20 years. I have one bottle left and will open it for the next solar eclipse in 2044. The 2024 solar eclipse was today.
