On opening reticent and relatively mute, very austere. Some florals on the nose, predominantly mineral palate with a hint of Seville orange. 6 hours later still quite mute on the nose, intense mineralite on the palate with lemon lozenge, laser like focus and intensity. 24 hours later still relatively inexpressive, young pineapple, cream, biscuit, tightly coiled. One to forget in the cellar a few more years I think.

A less pungent than expected nose of apricot, cashews some lees and cedar oak. The palate is where this wine shines, with a luscious, creamy mouthfeel balanced by perfect acidity. Flavours of apricot, toast, butter, brioche and biscuit coat the mouth leaving a very long and complex finish lingering long after the wine is swallowed. If you have any more bottles of this you can leave them for at least another 5 years with absolute confidence.

On the nose flinty matchstick, grapefruit, elderflower and wet clay mineralite. On the palate subtle peach, biscuity spice, evolving with time to kelpy saline, then bacon fat and guava. High glycerol, crisp acidity, very long. Continues to develop but so glugable it doesn’t last long.

2nd bottle in a row oxidised with high VA. I’d better dig the remainder out of the cellar tomorrow and assess the damage...

Initially apricot and pineapple, with several hours yellow fleshed plum and spice.
