  • Pop and pour. Amazing, full nose of berries and potpourri. Thick, silky, and deep on the palate with gorgeously full dark and red fruit. This is my favorite Bevan cuvee and it's showing perfectly now.

  • Huge wine, deep dark color, highly extracted, huge dark fruit, nose of blackberry, black currant, plum, moderate tannins and structure, very little in the way of secondary notes at this stage, very long finish

  • Two Bevan 2015s side by side. I enjoy the Bevan wines as they tend to be a rather elegant, not pushed version of modern Napa Valley wines. These wines showed that again with a minerality, smoke and fresh spice component balancing the not too ripe red berry and floral notes. The EE Tench (94pts) was slightly ahead of the Wildfoote Vyd (93pts). Stylistically, both wines are quite similar (light and airy - in Napa terms), with the EE being a bit more complex and precise. I'm sure my scores would have been higher (I've scored the EE as high as 97pts before) if the wines had been served earlier in the evening and not at a time when I had more than enough wine.

TN: Medium+ expressive nose dominated by fine red berries, with additional notes of crushed stone and some smoke, as well as some Syrah-like black pepper notes. Quite inviting. On the palate, very well defined aromas of fresh herbs, minerality, not too ripe red fruit and some violets. With time additional layers of meaty, bacon fat notes. Fine tannins, good acidity, rather light and airy for a Napa, with a fine, rather long, red fruit-driven finish.

Decanting: Not decanted, needed a little air. An hour in the decanter should help.

  • Part of a small Napa 2015 vintage horizontal, focusing on Realm and Bevan. My main observations were that 2015 is more extracted and ripe than 2014 or 2016, less elegant but with more weight. The wines were generally open and in a good spot, but still all primary. Tannin structures are soft

    Tasting note:
Dense aromas with extracted dark fruit of brambleberry and plum. Herbal layers of eucalyptus, black tea, meaty feature. Densely packed. Seamlessly integrated tannin and great balance. On the downside this felt rather heavy, even bordering heavy-handed. Maybe a few more years of bottle age could help… paired this against Wildefoot 2015 which felt more fresh and benefited from an intriguing expresso feature. Both wines with rather extracted fruit profiles, especially in comparison to the Real wines.

  • A stunning wine. ON the young side for sure. Decanted 2 hours and there was a massive amount of fruit and great length. If I had another bottle I would hold it for 3 years at least.
