  • Old note from 1994.
    ruby center, very deep color.
Undeveloped fruity aromas. Very young: cherries, plum, vanilla, pepper.
Palate follows nose and confirms undeveloped character.
    Way too early to drink.

  • Lys rustrød farge.

Aromatisk nese mer på den tertiære siden.
Sorte bær, lær, stall, sigarboks og våt jordbunn.

Blir ikke særlig bedre ved lufting. Smaker tørkede plommer, lær, stall, krydder og jordsmonn.

Avslipte tanniner. Grei lengde. Mangler frukt.
Vin er som damer. Denne var for gammel for meg.

  • Nose: Cedar, smoke, forrest, blackcurrant
Notes: The Talbot 90 demonstrates excellent qualities that should be present in a well aged and well conditioned claret. With the textbook style cedar aroma from St Julien, this wine possesses the "dark aromas" like smoke and forrest with some remaining primary notes of blackcurrant. I would argue that from my experience, most right bank 1990s are just amazing. From the most pricey Margaux to less privileged Chateaux such as Sociando Mallet or La Lagune, this vintage is so great that it never disappoints. 1990 in general should be approaching its peak drinking time, this wine still has a lot of energy in it so I would predict at least another 5 years of optimal drinking time and the wine itself should easily live for another 15 years.

  • Screams Bordeaux. Very beautiful burgundy color and more on the dirty red side. At first, lots of cedar and slight raisin, then as one would hope, it started coiling up with air and then it exhaled and flared out for the rest the evening. We transitioned into library books and aged cherries, wrapped in a cedar lining. Chocolate tones started making a debut in the third zone of bottle. Firm acidity, gives the wine the lift and energy that gives these old wines the sensation of freshness. Id say its at peak of stage 2 and has not entered stage 3. A historic Talbot for sure, and in my opinion, better than the 82. Drink or hold

  • (Blind tasting)
Very full nose. Both plum and black currant. Perfectly mature. Smoke and cigar. Cedar and oak. Classic. So generous, but also cool. Lovely. Hints of bell pepper only adds complex, savoury edge.
Meidum-fullish, balaned palate. Perfectly mature. Long and intense. Only lacks a bit of concentration for higher marks. Classick Bdx. Tobacco-cedar-spice-savoury herbs.
We guessed on Pauillac or St Julien, super-second. The wine performed way above its ranking and expectations. A very pleasant surprise.
