Nose is muted at first, so I let the wine air out for over an hour.
I got some overripe black fruits. Immediately reminiscent of a Paso Robles Cabernet but with noted earthiness. Over the next couple of hours the wine smoothed out, and some nice cedar and baking spice notes intermingled with jammy blueberries, blackberries, and vanilla.
Tannins were fine-powdered, decently integrated, but a bit rough around the edges. The hot climate of Toro did not lend great acidity to this wine, however.
86 pts. Great cheaper alternative ($15.99) for those who love jammy, very ripe fruit-forward Cabernet Sauvignon from the New World. Too, too jammy/overdone/stewed for my palate, though.
