1991 Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé Musigny Cuvée Vieilles Vignes - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Musigny Grand Cru
Nice notes of forest floor and framboise with a splash of vanilla. Somehow i felt the flavors were not fully expressive. Powerful and masculine. A little sharp and short on the finish. (90 pts.)

1978 Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe Châteauneuf-du-Pape - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Should have decanted with hindsight. Sweet notes of prunes and smoked meats, but appeared muted when drunk side by side with the wonderful Chave which was much more expressive. (91 pts.)
1978 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage - France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Hermitage
Lovely nose of smoke, tar and grilled game meat. Some of our party found the barnyard taste a bit overwhelming but I thought it's a beautiful expression of Chave's terroir. (95 pts.)

1999 Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
Typical alluring aroma of caramel, tobacco, sweet black currants and herbs. Drinking well (92 pts.)
