  • 2001 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos - France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru
    (blind tasting)
    very light yellow
    fine subtle aroma with hints of tropical fruits, minerality, dry wood
    high acidity, thin body but buttery, gras, smooth
    dry herbal sour flavors, med tannin, med harmony, short after taste. not so impressing and surely less than one would expect from a Grand Cru. (89 pts.)
  • 2008 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos - France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru
    (blind tasting)
    very light lime color
    earthy, dusty, veggie, anise & yeast aromas
    med body, herbaceous and anise flavors, tannic, harmonious, long herbal after taste. (88 pts.)
  • 2006 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos - France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru
    (blind tasting)
    very light lime color
    brioche, cooked raisins in muffin, honey & chestnut aromas
    med watery body, unbalanced, weak flavors,
    low tannin, weak harmony, short after taste. (86 pts.)
  • 2004 Domaine Trapet Chapelle-Chambertin - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru
    (blind tasting)
    light red-brown transparent color with a brighter rim
    earthy, leather, sweet&sour candy & secondary aromas
    fine med body, some fruit flavors, med tannin, high bitterness, harmonious, long floral after taste. In blind tasting seemed like an old Pinot Noir. (91 pts.)
  • 1997 Domaine Trapet Chapelle-Chambertin - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru
    (blind tasting)
    dark red-brown, with rim at same color
    earthy, leather, fungus, dusty, spices aromas. later some greenery develops in the glass, rich & complex aroma.
    old world wine flavors, spices, some ripe fruits, high bitterness, med body & tannin, some unbalanced harmony. Good and long after taste. In blind tasting seemed like a rather young Pinot Noir. (92 pts.)
  • 1996 Château Pavie Macquin - France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
    (blind tasting)
    cloudy dark red, same color rim
    Bret, leather, earthy, vanilla, oak, secondary aromas
    med body, med tannin & acidity, ripe fruits, good tannin & bitterness, med harmony, relatively short after taste. enjoyable Bordeaux (blind). (88 pts.)
  • 2004 Château Pavie Macquin - France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
    (blind tasting)
    dark red-black color
    elegant, velvet, young fruity aromas
    round and smooth body, powerful, coffee & caramel flavors, with ripe fruits. some dryness. high tannin & bitterness, high acidity, med harmony, med after taste. (90 pts.)
  • 1985 Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
    (blind tasting)
    cloudy dark red
    young fruity earthy aroma
    full body, ripe fruits, sweet flavors, round med tannin, long alcoholic pleasant long after taste. enjoyable. (90 pts.)
  • 1996 Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
    (blind tasting)
    dark cloudy red with some brown
    wet earth & mildew aromas
    med round body, chocolate flavors, black forest fruit flavors, good bitterness & harmony, silky tannin, balanced long & pleasant after taste. (92 pts.)

it was amazing to realize that it is difficult to distinguish between same wine from different vintages.
