| K&L Wines - 2006 G. Fluteau Champagne Cuvée Prestige Blanc de Blancs - France, Champagne
Pale. Light body. Lemon custard nose and palate, moderate dosage, good salinity at the end. Very crisp, clean style.
- N.V. Franck Bonville Champagne Grand Cru Cuvée Les Belles Voyes - France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru
Apparently, all 2004 juice. Rich, toasty and quite yeasty. Big, assertive Blanc de Blancs with some caramel.
- 2002 Pierre Paillard Champagne Grand Cru Brut Millésimé - France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru
Medium yellow. Frothy. Strawberries on both the nose and palate. Medium weight, good length, nice tartness on the finish. Very, very good.
- N.V. Marguet Champagne Blanc de Noirs Brut - France, Champagne
Light color. Pretty much all I get from this is a lot of yeasty aromatics. Rich mouth feel but neutral fruit and simply not much flavor.
- N.V. Pierre Paillard Champagne Grand Cru Brut Rosé - France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru
Light pink. Sour cherry. Rich with bright red fruit in the mouth and a long, chalky finish. Both Paillard wines impressed.
- N.V. Charles de Cazanove Champagne Brut Rosé - France, Champagne
Medium pink color. Lively mousse. Fresh strawberry. Medium weight, higher dosage. Easy, crowd pleasing style but not nearly as interesting or balanced as some of the other wines.
- N.V. G. Fluteau Champagne Brut Rosé - France, Champagne
One of the most deeply tinted rose Champagnes I've ever seen. Subdued bubbles. Big wine, dark red fruit. Weird, tannic finish. Essentially a red wine with carbonation.
- 2002 Daniel Ginsburg Champagne Cuvée Rene Millesime - France, Champagne
Medium yellow. Mushroom nose. Rich, caramel and toasty. This is dry and very secondary with little remaining fruit. For those who appreciate a fully mature, heavier style with some oxidation, a la Krug or Bollinger.
San Francisco Wine Trading Company - N.V. Gosset Champagne Brut Excellence - France, Champagne
Full, sweet style with a dose of toasty oak. Not a lot of intrigue or subtlety.
- N.V. Delamotte Champagne Brut - France, Champagne
Light color. Fine bead. Lemon cream set off by subtle wood toast. Very stylish bottle.
- N.V. Billecart-Salmon Champagne Brut Réserve - France, Champagne
Light yellow. Brioche. Medium weight, apple fruit with cyanic bitterness to finish. Comes through as rather austere and jarring at the moment.
- N.V. Paul Bara Champagne Grand Cru Brut Réserve - France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru
Medium yellow. Light weight but intense and full of ginger. Dry, elegant, fine mineral finish. Excellent.
- N.V. J. Lassalle Champagne Premier Cru Brut Rosé - France, Champagne, Champagne Premier Cru
Very pale salmon color. Floral and dried red fruit aromatics. Dry, poised, stony finish. This is really attractive and very classy.
- N.V. Veuve Fourny & Fils Champagne Premier Cru Brut Rosé - France, Champagne, Champagne Premier Cru
Light pink. Active bead. Light but an intense core of black cherry fruit. Hint of sweetness, but excellent dry finish.
