rich and vibrant. wonderfully expressive. dare say more enjoyable than Les Clos side by side. (95 pts.)

somewhat muted compared to Blanchot. got better after half an hour in glass but I expected more. (92 pts.)

1971 Château Palmer - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux
mellow and elegant with notes of old humidor and leather. very pleasant old claret. (93 pts.)
1971 Château Cheval Blanc - France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
surprises me every time. beautiful nose with a sweet plummy finish. (95 pts.)
1971 Château Margaux - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux
tight and closed. perhaps not a good bottle. somewhat disappointing. (89 pts.)

alluring and complex. at its drinking plateau now. (96 pts.)
1971 Domaine Armand Rousseau Père et Fils Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos St. Jacques - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
deep and dark with notes of mineral, earth and plum. not as explosive on the nose as one would expect. (93 pts.)
