  • N.V. Benoît Lahaye Champagne Rose de Maceration - France, Champagne
Blind. Guessed champers. Bone dry, lean and acidic on the attack. Medium weight yet a foam mouthfeel. Cherry and raspberry as work here with a crisp clean finish. Very nice. Probably better served with a little more chill on it.
  • 2013 Roark Wine Company Chenin Blanc - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Ynez Valley
Blind. Guessed Chenin, yeah! But definitely no idea it's a California. Big nose, petrol reduction, burnt rubber. Palate is concentrated green apple, lemon, and lime. Long gripping acid driven finish. Very good.
  • 1999 Carlisle Zinfandel Dry Creek Valley - USA, California, Sonoma County, Dry Creek Valley
Blind. Guessed Paso GSM. There's a very slight hint of dark plum, ripe fruit. The ending is tart red berry. Lots going on here which took me down the GSM path and its definitely and the heat led me to think central coast. All wrong. Great wine with lots of youth and freshness.
  • 2005 Carlisle Syrah Papa's Block - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley
Blind. Guessed Grenache. Heat all around here. Dark fruit, Anise, pepper, and stems. It's a nice wine but was outclassed by the lineup.
  • 2011 Big Basin Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon - USA, California, Santa Cruz Mountains
Blind. Guessed zin but I really had no idea. Seiber said Cabernet and when he says Cab blind you better pay attention. For me, there's nothing resembling a cab here because I'm picking up cherry and zin qualities. Fruit forward.

Scoreboard for the Brig vs Seiber Blind Cab challenge: 0 - 39
  • 2012 Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Blind. Stumped losing interest this late. I wish Sean hadn't spent big coin on this wine. This will be an unpopular tasting note as this seems to be a favorite of many. Big, sweet, and one dimensional. There's a LOT of cherry here which is probably Grenache but I don't know the blend. Horrible QPR. You can get 2 or 3 great bottle of the price.
