10/13/2019 (By SS @ De Ertepeller in Papendrecht)

We all had to bring a 2009 Bordeaux. All wines were tasted blind.
We tasted the wines one at a time.

  • 2010 Thunevin Crémant de Bordeaux Bad Girl - France, Bordeaux, Crémant de Bordeaux
The bouquet shows some minerals and is slightly rustic. On the palate juicy and mild, not so expressive, but certainly elegant. Ok bubble. (87 pts.)
  • 2009 Dom Pérignon Champagne - France, Champagne
Beautiful bouquet with some minerals. On the palate a concentrated wine with good acidity, some smoke and minerals, toast and a pleasant touch of sweetness. Delicious bubble. (93 pts.)
  • 2009 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc - France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
The bouquet is not extremely expressive. On the palate yellow fruits, vanilla, some honey and beautiful oak and elegance. Beautiful wine. (94 pts.)
  • 2009 Château Malartic-Lagravière Blanc - France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
In the bouquet vanilla and some nuts. Same on the palate. Complex and probably fully mature. (91 pts.)
  • 2009 Château Branaire-Ducru - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
Beautiful and concentrated bouquet with dark berries, good oak and chocolate. On the palate dark berries, still locked, young, concentrated and lush, but also firm acidity and sticky tannin. This wine needs at least another 3 – 5+ years. For now 92 – 94+. (93 pts.)
  • 2009 Château Léoville Barton - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
Classical bouquet with a firm dose of oak, cedar, dark berries, smoke, toast and graphite. On the palate the same impressions, dark berries, firm acidity, coffee and sticky tannin which is a great promise for the (distant) future. Great wine! 95 – 96+ (96 pts.)
  • 2009 Château Pavie Macquin - France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
Extremely beautiful bouquet with a lot of dark berry impressions. On the palate dark berries, a lot of acidity, chocolate, round and smooth tannin and some sweetness in the finish. Beautiful wine with a great future of at least 5 – 8 + years. (94 pts.)
  • 2009 Ségla - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux
In the bouquet dark berries, oak and some toast. On the palate dark and red berries, bell pepper and chocolate. A firm amount of still powerful but round tannin. Really good wine. (91 pts.)
  • 2009 Château Belair-Monange - France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
In the bouquet dark berries, chocolate and mocha. On the palate a smooth wine with dark berries, chocolate, some bell pepper impressions, good acidity and round tannin with a good bite. Already a great pleasure and still youthful. But to be honest; I have my doubts about the drinking window in Cellartracker (until 2075….) (94 pts.)
  • 2009 Château Troplong Mondot - France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
In the bouquet dark berries, oak, toast, licorice, some bell pepper and sweet impressions. On the palate dark berries and a lot of concentration, chocolate, graphite, sweet spices, soft bell pepper, beautiful acidity and round tannin. Great and beautiful, almost Napa style of wine; delicious. Certainly a future of another 5 – 7+ years. I will probably open my first bottle in 2024. 96+ for tonight. (96 pts.)
  • 2009 Château Haut-Bailly - France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
The bouquet showed red berries and some metal. On the palate red berries, chocolate, firm acidity and mild tannin. The wine disappointed this evening. Not sure if it was the bottle. For my own reference I score it 93 for tonight. (93 pts.)
  • 2009 Château Saint-Pierre - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
Dark berries, sweet spices, chocolate, coffee and graphite in the bouquet as well as the taste. Really beautiful wine with good acidity and a firm dose of good tannin. My next bottle is planned for 2026. (94 pts.)
  • 2009 Château Malescot St. Exupéry - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux
In the bouquet creamy dark berries. On the palate juicy red and dark berries, good acidity and tannin. Overall an elegant wine with a very good length. (94 pts.)
  • 2009 Spottswoode Cabernet Sauvignon Estate - USA, California, Napa Valley, St. Helena
Dark berries, sweet spices, toast, coffee, cocoa and coffee in the bouquet. Same on the palate, beautiful acidity and youthful, round tannin. Pleasant touch of sweetness. Beautiful and luxurious wine which will probably be even better in 3 – 5+ years from now. 95+ (95 pts.)
  • 2009 Dominus Estate - USA, California, Napa Valley
Creamy dark berries, eucalyptus and mint in the bouquet. On the palate dark berries, sweet spices, chocolate, a pleasant touch of sweetness, good acidity and round tannin. Beautiful wine with a good future. 95+ (95 pts.)
  • 2009 Château La Fleur-Pétrus - France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
In the bouquet dark berries and vanilla, good fruits and luxurious impressions. On the palate a bit beautifully rustic and firm, elegant acidity and slightly sticky tannin. Extremely beautiful wine with a very good future ahead. Until 2028 at least I hope. (97 pts.)
  • 2009 Château Raymond-Lafon - France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes
Beautiful bouquet with a lot of honey, sweet pineapple and botrytis. Same on the palate, full bodied and beautifully concentrated sweetness as well as some fresh acidity. (92 pts.)
  • 2009 Château Rieussec - France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes
Beautiful and full bodied wine with a lot of botrytis, apricots and good, fresh acidity. Beautiful and complex wine with a great future ahead. 95+ (95 pts.)

Great tasting Sander! Looking forward to the next one.
