 2/14/2022-2/15/2022 (Bandon Dunes Resort)

All PNP and most in my Chrome Lake Suite. OCD me brought good pinot glasses. Just a true pleasure to have nice mature pinot after playing golf at a world class resort! 11-12 tasters/mostly not hardcore.

Night One

Night Two

  • 2012 Ponzi Vineyards Pinot Noir Reserve - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley (2/15/2022)
No formal notes. Not a show stopper, but very nice among friends in a resort room after golf! Nearing end of plateau. (90 pts.)
  • 2012 Soter Pinot Noir Mineral Springs Ranch - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Yamhill-Carlton (2/15/2022)
WOTTrip! No formal notes but lots of glazed eyes and "ahh's" "oooh's. Great depth, concentration w/o being heavy, and looooong! Now-2025. (94 pts.)
  • 2012 St. Innocent Pinot Noir Vitae Springs Vineyard - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley (2/15/2022)
Another PNP in a resort room with no notes, but great results on the faces of the tasters! Nice acidity and fruit balance. Nearing end of plateau. (92 pts.)
  • 2012 The Four Graces Pinot Noir Doe Ridge Estate - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Yamhill-Carlton (2/15/2022)
Probably the biggest wine of this trip and just a tad hot. But wow! Deep, dark and delicious. Not a purist's wine. Now-2025. (93 pts.)
  • 2012 Winderlea Pinot Noir Winderlea Vineyard - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Dundee Hills (2/15/2022)
VA! While I was sharing the issue with my half of the 12 person table, here comes Bob S, "Smell this!"

"I know Bob, it's called VA. You don't like nail polish in your wine??"

Thanks goodness we had one more bottle on the table to enjoy from a nearby winery (WillaKenzie). (FLAWED)
  • 2012 WillaKenzie Estate Pinot Noir Dijon Clone 114 - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Yamhill-Carlton (2/15/2022)
Back to a nice solid pinot (under screwcap no less). No notes, but lots of relief after the previous bottle had VA. (91 pts.)

Lots of great wines, good guys, fair weather, and I can't wait to do it again. Long live the Pacific Typhoon Invitational!
