Popped and decanted for 5+ hours. Medium-plus black cherry hue, quite dark for a Burgundy. Somewhat effusive nose of dark fruits, dried flowers, iron, and hints of forest floor. Medium-plus body. As with the nose, flavors in mouth from this are similarly reticent and seemingly brooding. What is there comes off as powerful, dark fruited, and showing a tremendous impression of minerals. The acidity is balanced with chunky, somewhat rustic tannins on the plus close. Clearly too young, one would hope that this will improve with additional time in the cellar as it appears to possess all the essentials. One word to sum this bottle up would be "brooding."

Quick commentary: It didn't show any better or worse with food. Although, that said, it accompanied every dish quite well. (4966 views)

Klar, dyp rød med svakt, svakt tegn til brunende kant. Nese litt lukket rett etter åpning, men kommer seg med litt tid på flaske. Etter 1,5 time gir den ganske generøst toner av mørke bær, hvit pepper, kanel, bringebær, noe jordbær og vanilje, samt hint av søtlige kirsebær. Bløt inngang som beveger seg mot smal, tett og noe stram frukt. Mørke bær også munnen, mot solbær. Tørre, lett bitre tanniner i avslutning med noe pepper. Stram syre. Dyp rød. Mørk, lett søtlig nese med mørke jordbær, høstløv, jord og hint av morell. Svakt hint av vanilje.

Relativt lukket på duft, men avgir etterhvert, en klassisk pinotparfyme. Stram i munnen med en relativt høy syre. Toner av blårøde bær, pepper og lakris og noe tanniner. Denne vinen er nok helt i starten av trassalderen og gir lite nå. (2787 views)

Relativt klar, medium dype rødtoner. Relativt svak på lukt med støvete pinottoner, noe krydder som pepper og anis etter en tid i glasset. Gir lite av seg selv på smak, smal, syrlig og ganske konsentrert med unge, snerpete tanniner og viss mineralitet. Antakeligvis i dvale. (3160 views)

Based on others’ comments, I tried after decanting for ~45 minutes. This vintage felt a bit past its prime. Not much body to the wine, no flavors stood out. Strong taste of soy sauce at first, though it dissipated after a bit longer in the decanter. I would not let this one age further - drink soon. (1274 views)

Intense and quite concentrated. Medium+ acidity and tannins. Impressive balance and concentration for a Bourgogne Rouge with the specific age. Clearly confirms that 05 is a vintage for the long run. It delivers a moderate amount of crushed red cherries and cherry stone, earthy tones and stable, finishing of with a slightly bitterness. The aftertaste is decent but limited. A small 92. Opened 2 hours ahead, but not decanted. Good and solid performance, with a great balance. The tannin and acidity are medium and good integrated. It delivers raspberry, strawberry, sour cherries, some licorice and a hint of stable. Strong fruit and intensity, but a moderate aftertast. Opened 2 hours in advance (not decanted). Fresh, fruity and elegant. Medium acidity and tannin, both well integrated. It delivers cherries, strawberries, earthy tones, a little oak and ripe raspberries. Good weight on palate the relatively light structure taking into consideration. Great balance, good length and intensity. Still young and will most likely develop quite a bit when it comes to the complexity, but it’s extremely enjoyable at this point to (like so many 19’s are). Decanted for 2 hours before drinking, which was needed. It was pretty closed to begin with, but after the decant, fresh and aromatic red fruit suddenly appeared (especially strawberries). Floral tones and candied elements followed. It ended up super elegant and drinkable (as so much 19 are), but it clearly needed the air. I’m a sucker for the elegant and juicy expression, so ending on a solid 93 at this point, but if you prefer a little more complexity and less freshness, save it some years. It seems to have enough structure to develop for quite a while. (1651 views)
