Swirl Wine Class (Afton) (Afton House, MN): Fun wine to drink and while not the most structured wine it has some cherry, plum, spice and subtle oak coming together. Medium finish. (2164 views)

2004 Saint-Laurent Syrah (USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Wahluke Slope) 1/1/2007bajayngo90

I really dug how this was much more subtle then a lot of WA syrahs. had a cool match stix thing on the nose, really good acids and red fruits, tasted like a cool climate syrah. (663 views)

2003 Saint-Laurent Merlot (USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Wahluke Slope) 3/12/2012bryan@shingl.com91

I was concerned this wine might've passed its peak - and was very excited to see (taste...) that it had not! Rich tobacco/chocolate aromas, a balanced earthen berry forward and a strong but smooth finish - no tartness, very little residue, fantastic legs. This wine aged very well and was worth the wait! 2004 Saint-Laurent Lucky Red (USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Wahluke Slope) 12/8/2010bryan@shingl.com89

moderate earthy/dark cherry nose, lightly tart/tannic forward on the tongue with a very smooth finish - relatively strong % alcohol doesn't overpower the flavor; adds depth to & benefits from spicy pasta dishes (1072 views)

2006 Saint-Laurent Syrah (USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Wahluke Slope) 7/25/2012Champagneinhand92

Okay, This has been resting long enough for any bottle shock to wear off. I also served it around 64F and it really shined well. The dark purple opaque wine had a deep nose of black and blue fruits along with a bit of ground peppercorn, plus a little bit of provencal herbs. On the palate this was similar with a mouth coating smooth tannin coating your teeth afterward in purple with some mineral and good acid integration. There was a hint of dark chocolate from the aging in oak for a bit before bottling. Decent, but not a super long finish. Wonderful texture. (1514 views)

2006 Saint-Laurent Syrah (USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Wahluke Slope) 5/23/2012Champagneinhand89

This syrah is open for business. a nice floral scent to go with a lush abundance of black fruit and a bit of a meaty smell. On the palate the dark fruit carries over with mouth coating tannin which is matured into softness. No real wood presence as it also has integrated. This is a different beast than the '07 when the heavy tannin and oaking are still very much in play. A great wine for the $15 from Full Pull. (1347 views)

2007 Saint-Laurent Syrah (USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Wahluke Slope) 10/13/2011Champagneinhand91

So I knew I was popping this syrah way to early, but couldn't resist. After decanting, the wine seemed a bit shutdown even after 3 hours. The nose was of red fruit and heavy new oak. Big chewy tannins and the crisp acid made me think at least another 3 years. I left in the decanter all night and this wine had a different story to tell. Bright and vibrant red fruit, mainly dark cherry, pie cherries, cranberry and red currants spilled from the glass. It also had Thanksgiving spices of black pepper, mace, sage and some thyme. There was still oak needing to integrate but a vanilla extract was present. Long finish where the spices and tannins predominate. The wine was a deep dark ruby and very deep. Again I'll wait another couple of years before I try another. Massive potential. (1081 views)

2007 Saint-Laurent Syrah (USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Wahluke Slope) 11/8/2013Champagneinhand88

Staring to have oak integrating and fruit is more of the blackberry style with green and white peppercorn. The oak is showing as vanilla and white chocolate. After about two hours this became very disjointed with acids and tannin getting out of hand. I can't believe that the winery built this for such a long cellar nap. I think it was a bit short sighted, though its becoming a very good wine with more growing and maturing in store. Hard to justify the cellar space for a sub $25 wine though. Very enjoyable in hours 1 and 2. (1113 views)

2007 Saint-Laurent Syrah (USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Wahluke Slope) 11/27/2013Champagneinhand

still needs at least another year to reach the prime drinking window. Day 2 was not so bad, but still disjointed. high acids are quite noticeable. Red and black fruits, tannins are chewy. 2007 seems to be the year to hold on to for WA syrah. Drink '09 and some '10 before approaching the '08 and '07. Should be a great qpr in the future. Hopefully I will have the room to keep some of these for their 10 years anniversary. (1124 views)

2007 Saint-Laurent Syrah (USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Wahluke Slope) 4/20/2014Champagneinhand90

This had the corked pulled this morning with a pour into the decanter, and then poured back into the bottle. I left the cork off and let the slow ox take place over the next 4-5 hours. The wine is starting to show what its made of as the tannins softened, but were still present as chewy mouth coating but held in check by the acid and hard mineral backbone. Mulberry fruit with blackberries some sandalwood and vanilla from the oak starting to come around and white peppercorns on the nose and showing a little kick after the fruit in the mouth. Great qpr, and again patience as these are built to go another 20 years. (1168 views)

2007 Saint-Laurent Syrah (USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Wahluke Slope) 12/27/2014Champagneinhand89

Big bright red and dark fruits, but with serious tannin even after being opened for slow ox. I just think the winemaker used to much new oak as some is integrating, but I worry that it will outlast the fruit of 2007. still a good example of classic wA state Syrah, before the over extracted stuff became popular. Wahluke Slope terroir as his is a warm sight almost every year (975 views)

2007 Saint-Laurent Syrah (USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Wahluke Slope) 4/16/2017Champagneinhand

They built this wine so far into the future that the winery collapsed. Great WA terroir and a very nice QPR. Nice blackberry and volcanic minerality with green peppercorn. Such a waste. Would have been great to see the farm and vineyard flourish. (593 views)
