87 Dec 2022 in burgundy glass after 1hr decant👃 🍓 plum slightly rubbery. 👅🍒, Balsamic, acidic, iron and cedar on the very long finish. Should be all there but not wowing me today. Purchased from supermarket in 2018 and felt like now was the time to give it a try. Actually quite acidic upon opening, but the tannins are nicely resolved and there's lots of tasty fruit to enjoy, plus occasional suggestions of sweetish vanilla oak. Very juicy, slightly smoky and with a hint of liquorice. Good value. (1720 views)

2012 Baron de Ley Gran Reserva was clear and deep ruby red in colour. The nose was quite reticent, with blackcurrant and blackberries in vanilla and yeast background. On the palate, it was medium-bodied, with medium-high level of grippy tannin and medium acidity. It was quite well-built for extended aging, but not so impressive at this stage. (89) (1924 views)

To be fair to this one, I only managed to taste this one a day after initial bottle opening, and another time the day after (today).
At the first tasting, the fruits were clear black, and ripe prunes. Has still some rosy flowers on the nose as well, and some freshly grated cinnamon and nutmeg. Was told by @grapejuicewombat that the fruit expression upon opening was red, while she agreed that it strangely had turned black after a day... hmm ��
At the second tasting, the fruits definitely have largely disappeared, and what came forth were toast, bit of walnuts, bit of leafy herbaceousness, and similar spices that didn’t seem as fresh as the day before. Interestingly, it leads towards some candied cherry cola flavours at the backpalate, and finish. And boy that was long, like some pop-culture stuff going on and on around my gums for a long time. Kind of pleasant, not sure if it’s right to feel this way �� (1663 views)

Medium-high intensity aromatics seem shy, offering dark berry, oak spice, savoury, and earthy aromas. It is full bodied with big, chewy tannins that are integrating well. It has very good, juicy acidity with more balanced dark berry and oak spice flavours. Nicely textured with a long, mouthwatering finish. Better in 2-3 years. (1439 views)
