2019 3 Winner Riesling Trocken (Germany, Rheinhessen) 1/10/2020SuperSomm

Pale lemon colour. Light nose with green apples and white flowers. Medium taste of green apples, lemon and minerals. Medium (-) long and dry finish, yet it feels more semi-dry. High acidity. Medium body. Slightly pearly. An OK Riesling that lacks some depth, and at this price you can find better buys. Goes well with fish or shellfish. (63 views)

2020 3 Winner Riesling trocken Deep Roots (Germany, Rheinhessen) 8/18/2023Octavian_Valkamo88

88+ in Rheingau vs Rheinhessen tasting (Rheingau won)

Color: a shade of yellow in green. Deeper than 2021 Schloss Vollrads Rheingau riesling.
Nose: intense petrol/bensine, green apple, honeydew, dandelion and salinity.
Palate: honeydew, ripe citrus, dandelion, whitecurrant.
Overall very good wine for the price tbh, hard to put this under 88 points, could easily fetch 89-91p. (145 views)

2020 3 Winner Riesling trocken Deep Roots (Germany, Rheinhessen) 5/4/2022thomasbahr8090

Colour: Straw yellow. The legs are slow. There is no sediment in the bottle.
Nose: Yellow sweet, ripe apple, Citrus, some elderflower and peach, slight honey/buttery note of yeast
Mouth: Grapefruit, bright acidity, also some sweet fruit notes of apple paired with fresh herbal note, hints of a buttery mellow (mallolactic) yeast note
Finish: medium long, some citrus, some herbal notes, a little tart from tannins, refreshing

Very good dry Riesling, nice to drink at this age, nice balance of fruit, acidity and some yeasty notes, very attractive PQR considering the price of only 8 € in Germany (304 views)

Really pleasing smell of Peach. Nice mouthfeel. Fresh with perfect acidity and body. Accompanies the trout / kimchi / miso in a perfect way. Good value for money. Wittmann, Winter and Dreissigacker fulfill expectations with their Project for low Budget wines. (352 views)

2019 3 Winner Riesling Trocken (Germany, Rheinhessen) 4/6/2020AudunG82

Fresh, but ripe aromas of green apples. Extremely juicy in the mouth. Difficult to judge such a wine; very simple and juicy, but also delicious with its lovely and almost hedonistic fruit. (1007 views)

2016 3 Winner Müller-Thurgau Deep Roots Organic (Germany, Rheinhessen)2/17/2018forceberry78

11% alcohol, 20 g/l residual sugar, 5,4 g/l acidity. Tasted blind in VV.

Quite pale yellow-green color. Somewhat vague nose with very reticent aromas of white peach and something waxy. The wine really doesn't smell much. On the palate it is medium-bodied, medium-sweet and quite focused with pure flavors of ripe citrus fruits, red apples, some candied gummi bear notes and a hint of herbal character. The high acidity gives the wine good freshness and sets off some of the sweetness nicely. The finish is medium-sweet, medium-long and fresh with flavors of white peach, some red apple and a hint of herbal spice.

A much better wine than what I expected. When you see a wine that's "medium-sweet Müller-Thurgau", you automatically expect it to be lousy, but having tasted this blind, this one performed a lot better than I thought it would. This is not an interesting or memorable wine by any means, but the flavors are pure, the wine tastes fresh and the sweetness doesn't come across as excessive - at least when the wine is served cool enough. A well-made, simple wine for people who prefer to have some sweetness in their whites. Priced according to its quality at 9,99€. (638 views)

2015 3 Winner Riesling Deep Roots Brut (Germany, Rheinhessen) 2/22/2018Henman87

From a half bottle. Subtle nose of some citrus and mineral. Medium bodied, very dry and refreshing, a bit tight, showing very subtle citrus and apple with a slight mineral aspect. Nice mousse and bubbles. Actually better than expected. I like the firm and tangy style. (503 views)

2013 3 Winner Riesling trocken Deep Roots (Germany, Rheinhessen) 9/2/2014forceberry81

Tasted blind.

Pale lemony yellow color. Youthful, crisp and refreshing nose with youthful aromas of ripe citrus and yellow apples, some waxy character, a little bit of yellow stone fruits and a hint of petrolly character. The wine is dry-ish and pretty ripe on the palate with flavors of sweet yellow apples, some lime-driven citrus fruits and a hint of sugary yellow fruit richness. The wine is moderately high in acidity, but it feels like it could use a bit more acidity to bring that freshness out. The finish is pure and refreshing with more emphasis on the acidity than on the fruit; there are medium-long flavors of lime-driven citrus fruits and a hint of stony minerality.

A rather simple and straightforward effort. My guess first was Australian Riesling due to its rather lime-driven character and hints of petrol. When it was revealed that this was an old world wine, I thought of an Alsatian entry-level Riesling from a warmer vintage. Well, at least I got the variety correct. Overall this was a bit one-dimensional wine, lacking the freshness, brightness and complexity of good Rieslings. Isn't really up to the par of the better dry Rieslings of Rheinhessen. Feels a bit expensive for the quality at 11,90€. (834 views)

2011 3 Winner Riesling trocken Deep Roots (Germany, Rheinhessen) 3/4/2013forceberry80

Light yellow-green color. Quite reticent, perfumed nose with understated aromas of green apples, stony minerality, some citrus fruits and a touch of spiciness. Dry and rather light-flavored on the palate, but the 8 g/l of residual sugar shows in the rather full-bodied mouthfeel of the wine, giving it some sense of richness. Flavors of stony minerality, some green apples and a hint of lime. Quite high in acidity, although the wine feels rather soft, mellow and easy for a German Riesling - perhaps due to the residual sugar, that seems to dominate the palate. The finish is rather neutral and medium in length with flavors of vague appley fruit and a little minerality.

A pure and balanced Riesling, but stylistically very underwhelming, even boring. Nothing bad here, but nothing that would make me buy this either. Simple everyday Riesling without much in the way of interest. Somewhat worth its price at 11,90€. (934 views)

2013 3 Winner Glasklar (Germany, Rheinhessen) 12/20/2014PSPatrick84

5 litre bag-in-box. Made by Jochen Dreissigacker, Stefan Winter and Philipp Wittmann. The wine offered apple, peach, pineapple and wet stone on the nose. On the palate the wine showed apple, pear, peach, pineapple, banana, wet stone and some herbaceous notes, with medium-level acidity and short length. The medium-bodied, reasonably balanced was very upfront and fell off after the initial attack, and became flabby as it warmed up. O.K. and easy-drinking if boring. Drink cold. (1125 views)
