Greater influence from both peat and Sherry than previously encountered with the Jura line.

As much phenolics as Ardbeg in ppm, but the medicinal peat component is not nearly as oppressive. Smoky, meaty and sweet-spiced nose with a spearmint note. Good mouthfeel and quality presentation. Likely 16+ years of whiskies in the bottle.

The colour is autumn gold with aromas of fresh apricots, bergamot and molasses. The taste is rich coffee, toasted pistachios and deep cinnamon. It is cask-finished in American White Oak ex-bourbon barrels and enhanced with a warm finish from hand-selected Pedro Ximénez Sherry casks that previously held 20-year-old Pedro Ximénez Sherry wines. I have many different Isle of Jura scotches in my collection - this is good but not among my favourites. I'm not sure I would buy it again. (433 views)

A bit weird and rustic, has a backward rubbery note, but interesting all the same. Bears absolutely no resemblance to their standard 21 year which is super red/sherried and outrageously good (even for the price). (281 views)

Light wood notes, macerated golden raisins, citrus, cinnamon on the nose. The same notes come though on the palate in a linear way — everything comes in at once and finishes at once. It’s lighter flavors but they’re strong and focused.

This is not nearly as nice as the regular 21 year Isle of Jura bottle (which is more sherry-driven, seems unpeated and is just more decadent). This bottling is more smokey, less smooth and just more muted and congested vs. the other bottling which is so rich and sumptuous. Also, this doesn't feel so old or settled - a bit unbalanced. Similar to previous notes. This is so rich and decadent with such deep red sherry notes. For someone who likes un-peated and/or Speyside style scotch, this really sings and is a dialed-up-to-11 version of the style. (428 views)
