Starts out with more floral and red fruited aromas. Then it turns more earthy and savoury on the palate with a finish that's quite savoury and tarry, though it also shows a light coffee/mocha element on the back end that I find distracting. As with the other more modern-styled Barolo poured here, I'm finding myself liking the fruit/brightness but wondering how much more I'd like the wine without the noticeable oaky/coffee signature on the back. Liked this a lot more. Lots of bright red and dark frut accented by more savoury tarry and earthy notes with some oak that's noticeable but deftly woven into the background. It's certainly on the modern side but the oak's not at all distracting here, and I like the sense of freshness and vibrancy on the palate where there's a nice acid spine giving it lift. (312 views)

Great texture on the PnP. High acid and high tannin for sure, but the overall structure keeps it all together at the moment. The fruit is a little reticent which allows a complex bouquet of garden herbs shine. I'd imagine this could shut down soon, though. (182 views)

Appearance is clear, pale intensity, garnet colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of freshly cut porcini mushrooms evolving into truffle with more air, coffee, earth, dark cherries, red plums. Developed.
On the palate, dry, softening high acidity, medium+ alcohol (14%), still grippy firm high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of juicy sweet dark plums, dark cherries, savoury earth, coffee, mushrooms, dark spices and some thyme herbs in the mix. Long finish.
Very good quality. Feels like drinking at peak already. Will re-taste the remainder again. (284 views)

Very aromatic - distinct ripe cherry and a herbal licorice notes on the nose.

In a great place. Had this wine 3 years ago and the tannins have softened enough to make this more pleasurable now. The youthful ripe fruit profile is still present, so it has plenty of stuffing to develop more tertiary notes. Great intensity, medium bodied, well balanced fruit and earthy profile. Medium plus acidity. Long full finish.

Really fantastic, classic Barolo blowing out of the decanter, so perfumed and sexy with rose petals galore, sweet sour cherry and strawberry, a kiss of oak and polish, great balance, fine tannic grip, should do well for many years to come; delicious. (228 views)
