This was the best Bedrock red I've ever had, and the oldest. A fantastic zin blend that is full-bodied and retains lift with acid and earth. This wine is full-bodied and dense with structure. (866 views)

I am not sure of the grapes used here, but it sure tastes like Petite Sirah. Dark and youthful, with black fruits, tar, smoke and grilled pepper steak. Still holding on to its tannic structure. It seems like this could easily age for decades more. (1209 views)

Pours black as midnight. Floral, peppery, smokey nose of dark black fruits. Full throttle palate exploding with brambly blackberry/blueberry fruit, tar, ripe plum, bay leaf and very perfumed aromas/flavors of violets. Thick chewy tannins a testament to the fact that this is going nowhere fast. Probably an immortal wine, though I will never find out since this was my second and last bottle. Go big or go home. My bottle had a little chocolate milk getting over-the-hill element to it. Stored on the bottom shelf in a wine cabinet in a garage ranging temp 49-61 degrees over the year, so maybe a little accelerated. Very nice wine but I wish I had opened this a year ago when I first had my eye on it. (1307 views)

Prime time. No longer a need to wait on these. Fantastic, smoke/bacon nose with a hint of stems. Sweet dark fruits with just enough tannins for bite and balance. Smoked/peppered meats join in with air. Leans more cool climate Syrah in flavor, but that would be too simple of a description for this gem. Lots going on. Slightly sweet, smoke, tar, pepper, earth. A lovely bottle. Morgan, please make these again. Please, please, please. (1942 views)

Pop and pour, this got better with air, but was really drinking well. The nose is nice. Earthy. Some roasted meat notes. Lots of black raspberries. Seems like a lot of Syrah and Mourvedre but who knows. A bit of spice as well. A long life left but getting closer to mature. Plenty of fruit. Outstanding. (2097 views)

Pop 'n pour - consumed with Italian Christmas dinner of Lasagna and Chicken Piccata. Really good from the get-go. Big wine but not crossing over the line into jammy. Noticeable oak, but unobtrusive and integrated. Great depth of fruit and concentration with really enjoyable flavors. Probably the best Bedrock I've tried for my palate. Note that this bottle was not stored ideally (due to large bottle size), but in a relatively cool and dark partially underground location (temp probably did not get above 72 degrees or so). Poured through Vinturi into decanter for approx. 30 min. ... The tannins here are sweet, but the fruit is a little muted. There is smoke, and a little spice, and tart acid pop to close. This showed better on day two, with the heat dissipating totally, and the fruit showing brighter than the tannins, leading me to think it could still use another year or so in the bottle. As the other notes attest, this wine is still a beast. Opened my first of two bottles. In the first 15 minutes, its nothing but tannin. By the end of our meal, say 1 hour later, it started to open up and be fairly enjoyable. Its hard to tell where this wine is going to end up. Is it enjoyable now? Yes, but give it a half day decant. But, like I recall MTP saying, this wine is meant to grow old, so bury it in the back of your cellar. (3163 views)

Popped 2-3 hrs prior to tasting. Inviting nose of dust*, black raspberry, a bit of alcohol which faded over time. In the mouth, yummy brambly red fruit, pepper, and a nice bit of tannin. Drinking nicely now but plenty of structure bodes well for patient cellaring. Delicious. Will revisit with NY strip.

14.8% alcohol. Morgan calls this wine "Papa's All-Blacks." I think of this wine as "Collaboration." A collaboration of three of California's greatest historic vineyards - Bedrock, Monte Rosso and Sellwagen. A collaboration of field-blend, mixed-black grape varieties (I'm guessing Zin based accompanied by the usual suspects - Mourved, Petite, Carignane ...). A father and son collaboration between Joel and Morgan. Morgan doesn't seem to be content to make delicious wines, he trades in delicious wines with a "story"!

Deep purple in color. Expressive red and black fruit aromas. On the palate, black cherry, with blueberry overtures, livened by black pepper and chocolate. Long aftertaste. Extremely well mannered and balanced with great concentration and complexity.

Terrific, but I probably drank this prematurely, should be reaching its peak around 2014-16. (3795 views)

PnVnD let air for 1hr. Dark purple red almost saturated with a garnet rim. Blackberry and black cherry with mineral notes on the nose. Medium(+) with velvety but grippy black tea and ripe fruit skin tannin. Bright black fruit flavors with ripe cherry juice and a refreshing black raspberry and mineral finish. Lingering finish. Good acid balance keeps everything in balance. I have just committed vinous infanticide but it was worth it. Really opened up and improved over the several huors it was consumed. Simply delicious and will always wish there was more to get. (3703 views)
