2004 Château Lilian Ladouys (France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe) 5/7/2023whudock92

an outstanding bottle that required four hours to open up. Lots of earth and leather, well balanced. Fruit is diminished but still in harmony. (451 views)

Dark garnet, clear complexion. Slighty muted at first but opened up to reveal a faint hint of tobacco leaf and cassis. Nothing bad about the wine, but not terribly exciting either. A perfectly acceptable midweek wine. (3102 views)

Drank over two days and the wine improves considerably. Day two: The bouquet is a bit dusty with cassis, plum and earthy flavors. On the palate cassis, some sweet spices a touch of bell pepper, some chocolate, good acidity and pleasant tannin. The wine is mature now and offers really pleasant drinking after some air time. Will definitely still be ok in 2017. (2705 views)

In fact about the same as my previous notes. Not a bad wine, but overall a bit green with firm acidity and tannin which has softened a bit. Can last for several years more, but will never be really subtle. (3681 views)

A classic bordeaux, with nice nose of red berries, cedar, minerals. Palate does not the refinement or smoothness of others, but a solid refreshing food wine with strong red fruit profile. A bit thin and green, but finish is pleasant. (4668 views)

Black as well as red fruits. Firm acidity and tannin. Straight forward wine. A bit green. The tannin will soften a bit more with more ageing, but there is no real finesse. (3596 views)

Don't know what the negative fuss is all about. First Bordeaux, well this probably wasn't the right wine to taste. This wines vineyards are adjacent to Cos d'Estournel and has similar properties to the great CD. Hoever, it certainly is no match. Deep dark rich color to a slightly brick rim. Legs were somewhat light. Nose was filled with terroir, vanilla cream, mocha, espresso, white pepper, some leather, shoe polish, black berries and nice dark fruit. Pepper, dill, dark chocolate, mocha, licorice, vanilla on the palate with mild acidity and tannins. Somewhat astringent on the finish with drying tannins. Truly an interesting wine and at 24.00/btl it is a steal. (3376 views)

2004 Château Lilian Ladouys (France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe) 10/20/2011CaliCabAddict82

I am a relatively new wine drinker and this was my first French Bordeaux. I must say this was a big dissapointment. I had recently been on a Cali Pinot noir/Cab binge and the lack of depth in this wine was stunning. The nose was floral but reserved and the wine appeared very thin in the glass. On first sip I had to really concentrate to even know when this thin wine was hitting my lips. I even wondered if perhaps I had a corked bottle. Overall this was nothing to write home about. I dont think ive ever had a pinot noir this thin. I even decanted for 2 hours with no improvement. I hope my next venture into bordeaux is more fruitful, literally. (4710 views)

First day red fruits in the bouquet and taste and a lot of acidity on the palate. The second day the acidity was a little less overruling. It is a rustic wine with unripe raspberries, cherries and some cassis and still youthful tannin. Not really impressive, but certainly ok. Will probably soften a bit more over the next 4 - 5 years. Opened just after purchase to test. Well at this moment it is just an OK wine. Too young definately. It is not particularly thick, but more of a loose knit structure with a lot of acidity. Not a very impressive wine. I tasted better from this chateau. I decided not to buy more even though the price was well below 10 USD.
In case anyone notices; I changed mij score. This a wine which is ok, but just a little above average. (In general I think many people score too high.) (6479 views)
