What a lovely, red-fruited wine this is. Medium weight with just the slightest hint of back end tannins and plenty of fruit and acid. I haven't had enough Trousseau in my life to be able to comment on the varietal character, but it is lovely regardless. (1733 views)

Pale with significant bricking. Strawberry confiture and some darker fruit on the nose, wet granite, the beginnings of some sous bois. Surprising structure and rounded midpalate. Seems maybe more extracted than later bottlings? Really great, especially with food. (1731 views)

Really lovely. Tastes like a 15-20 year-old Savigny 1er Cru. Light cloudy red color with lots of bricking, sour cherry and savory aromatics. The acidity has mellowed a bit, but it's still cool and bright. Intriguing savory notes on the palate. "Ooh---I like this," says Jill (and I heartily agree). Too bad this was my last bottle. Opened about an hour prior to serving. Pours a lighter red but with some bricking already occurring. Tasted over the course of three hours. Plenty of fruit on the nose and palate, accompanying a meandering savory element of smoked meat. I enjoyed the depth of flavor as well as the integrated acidity. There didn't seem to be much tannin present. As the wine sat open longer, it started to lose the brightness that it had started with, and slowly got a bit less interesting. Still, it paired very nicely with miso-glazed grilled salmon. I don't see this continuing to get better with age, so drink up! (1903 views)

Pale cherry red color with a touch of cloudiness. Lovely, light nose of red fruit with fleal and acid overtones. Wonderful initial mouth feel. CA Trousseau Fest (AP Milwaukee): Popped and poured, deeper hue than the 2011. Spicy red raspberry fruits, bouillon and herbaceous funk on the nose (touch of brett?). Thanksgiving dinner. First bottle of the Trousseau from AR and it didn't disappoint. I wish I had more in the cellar. Bright cherry and cranberry with just a hint of tannins. Crystal clear light ruby; nose of earth and root; crisp acidity and dusty tannins supporting a light body; initially the palate was dominated by bitter roots but opened up to bright cherry and cranberry fruit with a delightful balance of earth. Tons of leaves and damp earth upon opening, as it opens various red fruited aromas come and go, red cherry, tart wild strawberry, cranberry, and some spice, with the earthiness remaining a constant. Palate follows suit, with a nice interplay between the earth, cranberry, strawberry and some pepper followed by a medium finish of red fruits and soil tones. Very pale ruby. Nose opens with strong aromas of old, dried leaves, damp earth with some strawberry fruit lurking in the background. With air the strawberry comes to the front and picks up some cinnamon and florals...day two actually showed some grapefruit. Light bodied wine with a definite red fruited palate, strawberry, cranberry, pepper and a distinct mineral/stoniness. Grippy tannins and tangy acidity complement the red fruited finish. (2063 views)

Foo Yuk. My wife thought it was corked. I disagree. I think it was just bad. From the other reviews on CT I have to assume this was a flawed bottle because the only thing we can agree on is light in color. Although there was a little bit of fruit in the background, the main palate was just this muddy, overly tart mess. If the tart was fruit-like, it might have been acceptable, but it was just acid with a touch of bitter on the back palate. Not VA, not corked, but just an oops. (2581 views)

This wine reflects the greater Arnot-Roberts style. Out there, creative, yeasty, satisfying, at times on the edge, sometimes brilliant. This trousseau almost varies from mouthful to mouthful and is very temperature sensitive. At times I like, other times I am neutral. There was bottle variation last year. Opened 1 hour prior to serving. This wine always delivers for me. It's at once delicate, deep, intense, and balanced. Tart cranberry, strawberry, herb de provence, and baking spices all play well together. Left to open up, a subtle cola note takes its place. I went Cyber-Group Goose-Stepping this week with an AR Trousseau. You know what, wine does not need to be opaque, rich, ripe, powerful, alcoholic and unctuous to be enjoyable.

Close your eyes, do a sniffy sniff, take a taste, spit and repeat. A refreshing wine but with much more structure than the color would lead you to believe. Different is not evil. Different is not status quo. Different is different. Take a chance, be different, because your tastes vary from day to day. One day you want steak, the next chicken, the next a salad. A rather light, pale red - like a dark rose, somewhere between conventional roses and a pale Willamette Pinot Noir. Good legs. Nose is strawberry and cranberry with a touch of moist earth. Smooth mouth feel at fist taste followed by a rush of pepper and cooked strawberries followed by cherries. Interesting tannins and acids and an interesting evolution in the mouth. Not a wine I want to drink every week but an interesting and palette awakening wine. An interesting wine to pair with food. I like it better with food. Wonderful with cheese and crackers and nice with an Italian Sausage Shepherd's Pie. I also like it better on the warm side for the tannins meld better. A clear, light red color. I.e., this wine is lighter than a pinot noir of similar age. The nose is delicate with a light sourish strawberry element. Flavors are clean and delicate with the strawberry-like flavors, nice medium acidity, ending with a light sour (in a good way) berry quality plus some perfume. Maybe a touch of watermelon rind at the end. Good acids. The overall impression of this wine is positive. It represents a nicely produced light-styled wine from a very esoteric varietal. Perfect for serving with lighter fair or on a hot day - assuming you want to follow this recommendation. Going to drink this bottling over the next 12 months with lots of fun foods. Well-done AR! Nerdy California Wines (Domaine - Washington, DC): A clear, strawberry color in the glass. Earth, pepper and pickles top the cranberry and sour cherry aromas. Mild tannins, brisk acid, with lots of sour cherry and wild strawberry fruit. Sage, pepper and pickle notes accent the fruit. Light, easy-drinking, but full of character. Beaujolais-like in its freshness, but this shows a lot of funky, earthy tones that remind me of Jura. Intellectually stimulating, but tasty as well. (3000 views)

Nice stuff. At first the aromas are all stony but it eventually turns more fruity and floral - just a little bit candied but overall the type of aroma you would call "perfumed." This is really a pleasure just to keep sniffing. It has the expected weightless presence and airy concentration on the palate, where it also feels more like taking in perfume than drinking a liquid. I've had this wine a few vintages prior but I think this one really nails the grape in a way the other one didn't as it feels totally effortless. (9804 views)

Interesting transparent dark crimson almost brick in color. Nose gives me small berry like maybe Sangiovese. Mouth has strawberry up front with loads of pepper spice, lean texture and mouth drying tannin. Need to sit with a bottle of this and contemplate it. Lots of evolution possible here. (2303 views)
