This was presented in a blind tasting of some high-end Champagnes:

2015 Winston Churchill - This was pretty easy to identify because of the rich, creamy mousse and high acidity. It was between this and the 2015 Cristal, but the dark bottle immediately told me which one this was. Palate showed tart green apple, loads of minerality (chalk and saline). This is in a great window right now for those who love crisp Champagnes with nice balance and acidity, and of course loads of fine bubbles! Easily 96+ and may still improve.

Note: I typically love this style more than the oxidative style when drinking them without food, but with salty foods (think caviar), I actually preferred the oxidative style which went remarkably well with the food! (16 views)

This will be a sublime wine with the proper cellar time. Very tight right now, but lots of sex appeal. This will easily be a 30 year wine. (538 views)

Took a mag of this to Black & Blue to share with some old former colleagues, most of us retired. It showed beautifully, complex, balanced, rich yet refreshing. For a hot vintage, it is still classic in style and was widely enjoyed. (138 views)

Very lifted on the nose. Fruit driven with some tropical nose notes. Maybe a tad bitter on the finish, but improved tremendously with air. (291 views)

Served cold to offset where I think I drank the 2013 too warm the night before. Served with a filet steak. Great pairing as the Pinot noir notes really came out. (507 views)

Overall not my favorite Pol Roger. I think I also may have drank it slightly too warm. Notes of biscuit and yeast. (372 views)

Eyes Wide Shut - Day 2 (A quiet place): Nose: Floral fresh and light fruits with white flowers, nice minerals.

Palate: Fresh and gently ripe green apples, nice drying hay and dried earth. Clean fruits on the palate here, along with a distinct, dried, spiced herbal note which adds nice complexity.

Not sure if I would like this with a touch more age or a bit younger. Nice now but also seemed to be missing something, not sure what. (332 views)

April BYO (Bodø, Norway): The wine is lively yellow in the glass. Round and creamy scent, with dairy products such as cream and cold butter. On the palate, the wine is fresh and fruity with red sweet berry fruit and what are perceived to be distinct pinot tones. Some candy and an exit with sweet oranges or clementine. (377 views)

A wine and a super cuvée we always argue is better younger than older and this 2015 felt about right on the money. Always a bit special, rich and very giving a very much in the “English Typer of Taste” as the French would say which is richer and with decent use of oak in its elevate. Recently arrived from Pol Roger’s cellars. Disgorged in 2013. The was simply magnificent. There was a saline seaspray note along with heady orchard fruits and a suggestion of marmalade. It has plenty of spice and brioche. It was full and textural, with wonderful shape and volume. It had such great acid drive and a finish that was chalky and so long. There’s still a light prickle from remaining bubbles. (82 views)

Now perfectly ripe champagne with everything you can expect from this appelation and producer. Rich, complex and briochy to drink now or in 1-3 years. Well done! (801 views)

Last minute wine lunch (Gary's): Drank about 1/6th the bottle over 1 hour. This is consistent with my experineces of a good bottle of vintage Pol Roger brut. Citrus, apple,l pear, toasty, powerful, good energy and lift. I'm happy to have 3 left. (232 views)
