N.V. Leacock Madeira Medium Dry Rainwater (Portugal, Madeira) 5/14/2024robmatic

Nice wine and value, but I think the Justino's Fanal Rainwater I had a week or two ago was better. (37 views)

Light in weight but not in flavor. Raisiny & nutty. Dry but with a lot of fruit flavor. Great aperitif. (81 views)

2017 Leacock Madeira Tinta Negra Doce (Portugal, Madeira) 9/6/2021lovanc@outlook.com

Rich delicious Madeira. Much sweeter than any previous Madeira that I have tried but well balanced ripe fig, caramel & acidity. (37 views)

N.V. Leacock Madeira (Portugal, Madeira) 11/24/2023vagrantone90

While NV, this is clearly an older bottling.
White label reading Leacock & Co.
Fairly prominent VA notes, but not to the point of destroying the wine.
The aromas are a little dull, but the texture is really nice.
Dry finish, again on the VA side.
not enough aromatic richness to mask this. (98 views)

1954 Leacock Madeira Terrantez (Portugal, Madeira) 10/22/2023Neecies

Took it to WT's birthday bash. His notes: "I told my guests not to bring any wine "unless it's ridiculous". Neecies was up to the challenge and brought this to close out the night. I'm not sure I've ever enjoyed a Madeira more. Preserved lemon, walnuts, dried fruit, creme caramel. Perfect level of density for my palate. WOTN?"

Pretty. Damned. Good. (229 views)

1959 Leacock Madeira Sercial (Portugal, Madeira) 9/18/2017rikipedia96

Terroir-istes International - Portugal, Madeira (Groot Constantia): (Tasted Blind) Mid-brown-amber colour towards a yellow-green edge. Initially, the aroma shows a burnt match and smoky character but improves as it opens to reveal caramel, nut, old wood and rancio aromas.
This wine equally takes a while to fully reveal itself on the palate but eventually shows ripe baked fruits and an abundance of nutty flavours with those caramel-softer notes interweaved in its complex frame. Full-bodied, the wine shows class with a long mid-palate length. Clearly showing evolved notes, there is a succulent, almost unctuous style. The rancio notes add intrigue. (198 views)

1995 Leacock Madeira Tinta Negra Doce (Portugal, Madeira) 9/18/2017rikipedia89

Terroir-istes International - Portugal, Madeira (Groot Constantia): (Tasted Blind): A deep tawny colour with a yellow-green edge; an intense and captivating nose offering wet raisins, sultanas, expresso walnut, dried red cherry, orange marmalade, muscovado sugar and oriental spice.
An unctuous and luscious entrance with lower acidity and more emphasis on textural elements. It leans towards being too unctuous, with flavours heavy with dark muscovado/treacle sugar, molasses, thick orange marmalade with chunky peel and a PX-like quality. The wine lacks acidity, resembling black toffee without the balancing tartness. The RS is notable, lingering on the mid-palate, giving richness and accentuating those sweet flavours to the detriment of its shape and length. (135 views)

1963 Leacock Madeira Sercial (Portugal, Madeira) 7/16/2023winot93

Medium amber. Big burnt orange peel nose, but in a soft way, not harsh or overbearing. Palate is slightly tart - there is a titch of sweetness, but it is more on the tart side - comes off as rather fresh, given the age! The hint of sweetness registers on the sides of the tongue. Super long finish. Hard to rate as I don't really have much experience with something like this. 93+? (336 views)

A Charity event plus two days of birthday celebration; a memorable three day weekend.; 10/13/2023-10/15/2023 (Samish Hill, Bellingham, WA): I told my guests not to bring any wine "unless it's ridiculous". 1927 Leacock Madeira Sercial St John (Portugal, Madeira) 12/31/2021Goldstone88

Bottled in 1937, according to the label. A curiosity...drank as an aperitif. From memory, very toffee in multiple dimensions but not sweet. Nutty but also quite high acidity and surprisingly low "off dry" oxidisation. (266 views)

N.V. Leacock Madeira "A" (undated) (Portugal, Madeira) 2/20/2022MAOC

Double decanted two weeks before drinking and consumed occasionally across six months.
The colour is almost like cognac but with more of a light orange tone. Although initially a little fiery, after the first couple of weeks the nose settled down to show a patina of bitter marmalade, dried citrus, vanilla, dates and molasses, with various rancio elements such as cedar, polished leather and old furniture. The palate feels largely dry, with moderately intense flavours of seville orange peel and dried apricot, bitter lemon, figs, dark honey, cloves and almonds. The finish has a mild fire to it, though not so much that I would have thought the liquid to be all aguardente rather than a mix with sercial. Certainly very unique and charming. It perhaps lacks a little intensity though at the same time has particularly striking length, with the slight viscosity one associates with old whisky. ****1/2+ (523 views)

N.V. Leacock Madeira Medium Dry Rainwater (Portugal, Madeira) 6/1/2021tedcholl86

My first Portuguese Madeira. A distinctive light copper color, tastes like a toned down in flavor intensity Port. 18% abv. Toffee, fig, dried apricot, hazelnut. Not bad but I'm not a huge fan of Port so this one will likely be my only Portuguese Madeira. (426 views)
