2018 Louis M. Martini Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma County (USA, California, Sonoma County) 4/24/2024AllRed90

Decanted half an hour and served with Flannery dry aged strips. Purplish color with aromas of blackberry, plum, blue fruit, sappy herbs and loam. Medium-bodied with soft tannins and flavors of currants, mocha and fresh herbs. Medium+ finish. Excellent for the price. (70 views)

2004 Louis M. Martini Cabernet Sauvignon Monte Rosso Vineyard (USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Valley) 4/14/2024rmh6692

Red cherry, blackberry, cassis, plum jam, tobacco, herbs, a little new leather, and earth on the nose. Tart cherry, blackberry, red cherry, plum, earth, spice, herbs, and wood on the palate. Nice mouthwatering acidity, grippy tannins, med-long finish. Needs meat or protein to smooth out the edges. Overall, a very nice bottle. The tannin and wood tells me that this should be aged for another 4-5 years, but I don't know if it's going to actually be better then. (27 views)

Bopadopolis said it well. I’d say perfectly in its prime now. 30 min decant was all I felt it needed. Very memorable. (140 views)

1969 Louis M. Martini Cabernet Sauvignon California Mountain (USA, California, Napa Valley) 4/1/2024GrapeScott89

I think this is the oldest California wine I've had, and you'd never guess its age from the vibrant purple color. This particular bottle was in great condition with a very top shoulder fill. Interesting capsule, plastic with a perforation that you can tear off like a gallon milk jug. Brambly fruit, with underbrush, tobacco, cassis and cedar notes. Started to fade pretty quickly, and was at its best shortly after opening, but still a very good showing. (52 views)

1969 Louis M. Martini Barbera Mountain (USA, California, North Coast, Napa County) 3/24/2024RichEB195

I love older Louis Martini wines as they are mostly well made and seem to age forever (I hear stories that they used to pasteurize their reds), so my expectations were fairly high since the bottle was in great shape and the color looked excellent through the glass. I’m happy to report that the wine did not disappoint! The cork was in excellent condition, and the wine poured a beautiful, dark purple color with almost zero bricking. On the nose it was incredible! Like a mixture of running through both strawberry and raspberry fields at the same time right after it had just rained. In the mouth this is delicious. Juicy bing cherries, with fresh herbs, cinnamon, and some tobacco. Very fresh with the acidity front/center. Blind, you’d have a VERY hard time clocking this as a 55 year old wine! Great stuff and exactly what I was hoping for and more! (117 views)

2016 Louis M. Martini Zinfandel Gnarly Vine Monte Rosso Vineyard (USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Valley) 3/13/2024Barnaby33

PnP heavily candied on the nose. Ripe prunes, blueberries and girded with hints of baking spice around the edges. On the palette sweet, but drying tannins and while the palette drops off reasonably fast it does so quite evenly. With a few minutes of air the candied nose gives way to some heat and a hint of green, but also some underbrush as it might in a Barolo. It's hard to call this classic. It is a bit hot, and the tannins a bit harsh, but not out of the range of what a Zin can provide. Good, yes, great no. It's no 87 Old Hill! (143 views)

2016 Louis M. Martini Cabernet Sauvignon Block Designate Monte Rosso Vineyard (USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Valley) 3/10/2024galewskj88

High/Low Blind Tasting III (Amy and Scott's house): Decanted about 30 minutes, this did not show well, nor did the 2018 Louis Martini sonoma cabernet that it was served blind alongside. There seems to be a lot of stuffing here, but the flavor profile is off. Louis Martini has always been a regular, inexpensive and readily available producer, I am now concerned. Not sure I'll buy more. (475 views)

High/Low Blind Tasting III (Amy and Scott's house): Decanted about 30 minutes. Sadly this was another poor showing for this wine, maybe even worse than 1.5 years ago. Weak and sweet, it reminds me of a party wine. (382 views)

High/Low Blind Tasting III (Eagan, MN): High Low Tasting: Honestly a difficult wine to drink and had a lot of greenness to it. Oak, bell pepper, tannic and earth. A bit harsh but could tell this was the more expense of the two. Just not showing well right now. (503 views)
