Although from old vines (as much as 50 years old, says the back label), the flavor is of a decidedly New World wine. Fresh, fleshy and fruit filled flavors fill the nose and mouth. Loads of red berry followed by a bit of smoke and earth. Not a great deal of complexity, but a good deal of enjoyment, even if a bit heavy on the oak. Good mouthfeel. This wine is more about texture than flavors, what with its soft tannins and almost velvety feel. Francois Cormut is the owner of this property; the importer is Bobby Kacher. 14% alc. Days 1-2 were rather bland but the next few days (I still can't believe we drank this over four days) proved more interesting. I am not generally a fan of these two blends but it did improve over time. Flat nose, medium bodied and towards the end the finish did improve. Overall, nothing special. (820 views)

Unbelievable value wine from France, still going strong!! This bottle had a cost of $4 in my store ($7.99 retail). I got a case way back around '07 and have been enjoying all these years. Never a bad bottle, never disappointing. Beautiful blend of old school French Cab/Syrah expression. Wish I had got 2 cases because these have aged with grace and perfection--not even a hint of falling apart in 2014! (1546 views)

The nose is full of sweet red and black currant fruit, mixed in with some pepper. Juicy currant and plum fruit leads the way on the palate, with fine-grained tannins offering a bit of support along with medium acid. Roasted coffee and toasted oak flavors add to the overall easy-drinking approach. (1489 views)

Aromas of leather, roasted lamb and pepper over top of juicy plums. The tannins have a bit of grip and the acid shows through. Blueberry mixes with plums, and the rich fruit is backed up by pepper and soy flavors. A generously fruity wine, but it shows some rustic, earthy flavors that make me crave burgers or lamb chops. Despite the “Grenache-Syrah” label this is 60% Syrah and 40% Grenache. (2837 views)
