Still drinking well at 18 years of age. Medium bodied, nice acid, tannins resolved. Nice, secondary characters. Well cellared and it shows. (69 views)

Still very youthful but less reticent than a couple of years ago. A nose of buttered lime rind and apple sauce with good height. Quite an astringent mouth (definitely needs food) of cider apples and grapefruit. Almost buttery finish of good length. Not terribly complex but all the flavors are big. I feel comfortable holding another 3 years or so before opening up the next one (although I'm happy to drink it now). (74 views)

Chunky crust. Deep red.
Sweet Shiraz fruit nose, with a nice vanillan oak lift.
This huge wine, reflective of 2012 and Clare, has now all come together to show almost lolly sweetness, though entirely from the aged fruit characters, which with breathing shows quite wonderful balance. I chuckled at my comment from 2017 that you could use it to push over old dead trees. Perhaps you need to visit the Clare Valley or at least rural South Australia to appreciate that crazy observation. The power is now wrapped in velvet with a cherry on top. An absolute classic aged SA Shiraz from a good year. Not subtle and delicate. Not with the elegance of Eden Valley. A powerhouse with the corners worn off. It would be considered old fashioned today, but I’m a fan, alongside the best cool climate Aussie Shiraz and the best from the Northern Rhone. It cost me AUD19 in 2014… Hard to beat. (228 views)

My go to supermarket white, available at Waitrose, sometimes on offer at £9.99, usually 12.99. Textbook Clare Valley Riesling flavours, lime rocks, tennis balls. At this stage in its evolution it takes a little time to open up on the palette, it is better on day 2 when some light honey arrives. (299 views)

A new and completely unknown producer to me. Intensely aromatic juicy blackberry, cedar spice, black olive, licorice, and chunky, black earth. Flavors follow through on the palate, but are framed by grainy tannins and fresh acidity. Emerging complexity. Finishes long. Perfect with the ground lamb burger and fries. Excellent for a entry level wine. (199 views)

Pale watery gold. White peaches nose, green pea and green grape, splash of sweetness. Flavour is acidicly crisp, very tart Granny Smiths, mouth puckering acidity, but there’s the faintest hint of sweetness there in the distance. Interesting, like to see where this goes with age. I like it. With more air, more sweetness comes through. Like it.
Three days later, this has knitted together into a lovely Riesling - softened honey, fine acidity, lime oil, really nice. (274 views)

Grabbed this off the shelf from Waitrose at Westfield Stratford- £12.99 seemed a pretty good price with a few years of age, and I have always liked this producer. Suffice to say I was not disappointed. The colour remains bright and light yellow. The nose shows a touch of development but is still dominated by lime notes. The palate is crisp and refreshing. This could easily live another 20 years under screw cap. I have some 2012's in the cellar back in Oz and this certainly reassures me I should not worry about them. (271 views)

Golden in colour, toasty and viscous on the palate, with ripe fruit, light kero, some florals and sea spray. Good length, breadth and acidity. It’s in the latter phase of its development. (130 views)

Turning to golden yellow. Toasty, brown apple, white florals and lemon nose. Age development through to palate, but pithy lemon and bath salts drive this very long. It's half old and half young. Will be interesting to see where this goes. Better when it warmed up. Very good. (174 views)
