Spanish fun day one (N&J's place, Canberra): From Coravin. Biscuit, a little toast, dark hued fruits, slight raisins, touch of meatiness, slight cedar, coconut, feels a little closed and reticent on the nose though. Fresh, sweetly fruit, again the In the black spectrum; blackberry, plenty of alcohol warmth and sweet spice in support, tannins are quite biscuit flavours, drying, the mid palate but quite smooth, fruit persists joined by a little coconut and cedar. Value Gran Reserva that's always worth a try. 2h air, probably not strictly necessary. Medium garnet color. Shyly gives up aromas of cherry, tar, parmesan cheese, well-worn oak and strong notes of black pepper. Silky texture, medium-bodied, with zesty cherry on the palate and hints of licorice through the lingering finish. Round, polished tannins add just enough support. Probably not a huge amount of long-term cellaring potential, but it's already 14 years old and enjoyable so why not drink it now. (368 views)

Lots of green apple, something a little more sweet on the nose as well. Tastes similar with nice acidity, with a surprisingly round body but short finish and very little complexity. All in all a fine cheap white. (136 views)

My first btl of this in 5 years. Still singing and a spot-on extremely well made Rioja. Classic tempranillo profile. A bit hot in middle which gives the impression this is in decline. Would certainly look for this in an updated vintage. (1088 views)
