2005 Puzelat-Bonhomme Pineau d'Aunis Touraine La Tesnière (France, Loire Valley, Touraine) 5/17/2023Putnam Weekley95

This bottle exemplifies the better half of the range of variation from this case. Black pepper-steeped elixir of green and black plum. One of its facets suggests something Northern Rhône. But it's more soft and pale than such a thing can be. I'm drinking it now after 24 hours open—a scrupulously defended portion. I could have expected disintigration, but am surprised to find it in peak bloom. Strawberry coulis, black tea concentrate. Tonnage of flagstone, tumbling and elastic. This is one of the finest wines I've ever drunk. I'm gladly drinking the sediment. (410 views)

proper decanting helped this. Boosted, wilted rose, magnolia, and lilac suggestions lead to tense, dry grip. Fresh and singing, sweet berry draped over mineral and root. Toothy. Glycerin. Transparent. Spiced according to restrained court manners. Stand and decant, I urge you! (544 views)

2005 Puzelat-Bonhomme Pineau d'Aunis Touraine La Tesnière (France, Loire Valley, Touraine) 3/11/2022Putnam Weekley91

EYE: vibrant brick and blue. NOSE: subtle, raspberry coulis, Mexican chocolate. MOUTH: black pepper. Tannic. Exotic jam and glycerin is locked under bracing iron dust.* It's an eclipse allowing fruit and spice a noiseless background for etic perception—mirabelle plums, ceylon cinnamons, birch mints, kirsches. The biologically shocked condition of this bottle makes it all the more interesting with food—the sharp, mineral edge engages fat, clearing the way for insurgent, ripe, juicy, produce.
*A symptom of cold-cellar shock. I've drunk 3 and tasted a 4th of these 2005s since 2018, which I would score in the 92-95 point range. Lagering at <50°F for months stunned this bottle. For a more hedonistic performance, keep it stood up at 60°F for longer than a few days. (633 views)

2011 Puzelat-Bonhomme KO In Côt We Trust (France, Vin de France) 4/1/2021Rupert94

Found a bottle of this at the back of the cellar and thought it likely have gone over the hill, it being a bit funky and natural. How wrong could I be. It's sensational. Cleaner than I remember it. Chalky and red fruited - but it's so light and fresh and complex. Thrilling. Wish I had more. (778 views)

2002 Puzelat-Bonhomme Vouvray Demi-Sec (France, Loire Valley, Touraine, Vouvray)2/29/2020Tony Ling94

Served closer to room temperature. Great conditions. PNP into Kimura Cava glass (“Fruit” day): Pale copperish with fine deposits.

Slightly caramelised, preserved stone fruits like apricots that are very airy and ultra detailed - not an easy achievement given the many cloying examples out there. Fresh and finely grounded white spices, some cinnamons and some smoke. Slightest of pencil shavings.

Very fine boned acidity driving an ultra mineral palate. Just right amount of sweetness here. Flavourful finish full of slightly preserved apricots, and super fine spices.

None other than top Vouvray and top Chenin here. 94 points to me.

30 mins upon opening: Some hints of mushrooms emerged on nose and some more honey preserved yellow and stone fruits here. (352 views)

2011 Puzelat-Bonhomme KO In Côt We Trust (France, Vin de France) 4/7/2018quaffnov91

Two hours of decant time, the nose is green olives and cranberry, with a palate that leans to the tart side with cranberry, olives and black tea. Medium mouthfeel with a medium length finish, this is a nice, savory version of malbec with a great QPR. (1390 views)

90 minute slo-o. Excellent wine. Terrific purity of the fruit on a balanced and terroir laden palate. Hint of spice also on the palate, with a soft and lengthy finish. Great QPR. (740 views)

2011 Puzelat-Bonhomme Cheverny Blanc (France, Loire Valley, Touraine, Cheverny) 6/29/2015forceberry93

Luminous pale green color. Very surprising, rich, intense and slightly sweet nose with aromas of wildhoney, sweet apple and some apple blossom - something very unlike Loire SB! The nose leads to a refreshing, structured and off-dry palate, although the slight sweetness is so integral part of the body it is impossible to say whether the wine is actually medium sweet or even bone dry with just incredibly rich, ripe fruit. Rich, complex flavors of honey, green apple, some grapefruit pith bitterness, stony mineralit and a hint of oxidative nuttiness. Lovely acid brightness. Quite robust and very long finish with pronounced nutty and oxidative, bruised apple notes, some sweet wildhoney, a little spice and a hint of funky, leesy and oxidative aromas of brioche and malt.

Ok, I must admit, this wine was nothing like I expected from a white Cheverny. That is not to say this wine was a disappointment, because it definitely wasn't! The wine was incredibly tasty and so complex it was almost weird, resulting in a paradoxically good and horrible drinkability: it is so good you just want to gulp it in an instant, yet is it so complex, you want to stop constantly just to wonder what on earth is going on with the wine. The wine paired incredibly well with chanterelle risotto and it was truly a brilliant purchase at 11€. Tremendous value. Extremely recommended. (557 views)

2012 Puzelat-Bonhomme Pinot Noir Touraine (France, Loire Valley, Touraine) 6/21/2016Cescwine89

Bit of funk and Earth to start things off, which settles down with surprisingly ripe fruit underneath. Raspberries and stewed cherry cola cloves. Reminds me a little of some Oregon pinots. Medium - body higher acid. Slight bitterness on the finish. Medium+ finish. This is nice just a touch too ripe (956 views)

Maybe a suggestion of VA here... But in our group this wine was more well-liked than I anticipated. Lovely texture if a touch acidic. There's a savoury, black olive-esque side as well as some pretty fruit. The tannins have softened over the last year or two and I daresay this wine might last another five. (1348 views)
