Drank with WC. Slow oxid’ed most of the day and then decanted before serving. Compared to other comparable Barolos on the night this was light on its feet, very elegant and ready to drink. Reflects the vintage? Still had great intensity and structure. Very very good and shows that you don’t need to cellar all Barolos for 15 plus years before they enter their drinking window. With only 30 minutes of air, this isn't showing much in the way of fruit. Nose of black cherries, dried pine needles, underbrush and spice. Medium-bodied, this has light flavors of black cherry, pine, pressed flowers and autumn leaves. Will revisit after more air.

93-94 Reportedly the best value buy of the 2019 vintage. Double decanted in AM and this may have shut down the wine a little bit in the evneing. Med+ acids, and good balance of fruit of tannin. I did not get the filigree precision of a top wine, although this will certainly be better in 10 years. (1283 views)

Hari Raya dinner at Wimborne. Tasted blind. 1+ hour in decanter already. Drank in Grassl Cru.
Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean medium intensity, with aromas of dark red cherries, spices. Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol (14%), structured medium+ tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of sweet red cherries, dark red cherry fruits, sweet spices, pepper. Structured long finish.
Very good quality. Has substance but a little shy at this young stage. More structure and stuffing than Prapo 2018 tasted side by side.
Day 2 opened up a bit more with classic sour red cherry fruit and gorgeous structure maintained. (166 views)

Decanted 3 hrs. Like most Altare Barolos, I am totally seduced by the nose, that heady concoction of rose petals, brown sugar, other baking spices, more flowers, touches of soy or other saline material, gets me every time. Most of these traits repeat on the palate, and then add some very high quality black cherry fruit. And then mid palate see's a brick wall of tannin, perhaps one of the more structured reds I have had in quite some time. It does turn a bit dry on the finish, which became a bit of a distraction for half a glass, and then either my palate succumbed or just waived the white flag - but it didn't stand out as much for the rest of the bottle. I can see this being a little decisive for some, not the last word on subtlety, but I am a fan for sure. Big time hold here. (427 views)
